Kind of a Weird MK Moment
Kind of a Weird MK Moment
We went MK for Red Shirt Saturday and rode the Jungle Cruise (Mr.Syndrome said, "Oh, look, it's walk-on!" but apparently he was huffing drugs 'cause we ended up in a line from hell). We had a little wait before we could dock and the skipper (can't remember her name but she was a riot) said, "This is normally my kiddie joke, but there are no kids on the boat." I looked around and she was right! Now, I know the adult density is greater on that day, but I was still really surprised that there was literally not one kid on the ride. It felt kind like the Twilight Zone.
I was also amazed at how much busier Gay Days was this year as compared to last. The lines were long and the crowd density was much greater this time around, although we still managed to get a lot done. I did get a little miffed because we had FPs for Space and waited in the FP line twice, only to have it go 101 both times. We killed more time than a typical standby line. Finally I went to Guest Services and asked if they would just switch the FPs for Big Thunder Mountain FPs...then we had to wait again, but at least the FP line was pretty quick there. I hope they didn't think I was an SG for asking to switch the FPs but we'd already killed a loooong time and Space didn't seem to be happening.

That is wierd. I can't imagine being on Jungle Cruise and not have one kid along for the ride!Syndrome wrote:We went MK for Red Shirt Saturday and rode the Jungle Cruise (Mr.Syndrome said, "Oh, look, it's walk-on!" but apparently he was huffing drugs 'cause we ended up in a line from hell). We were at Disney World last month and they kept having problems with Space Mountain then too. What is the deal? Is there some structual reason in breaks down so much?

From what I have heard in general is that a lot of ride go down because of guest stupidity like standing up on a ride or worst is items on the tracks. Paper items like maps clog drains of water rides and personal items land near or on the tracks which set of alerts.
That of it could be another CM birthday party was scheduled so they shut down the ride, lol. ;)

Note from Big Wallaby - This guy snorts pixie dust! Ask me for details...

yeah, on the outdoor rides like thunder mountain, even a bird landing on or near certain areas will trigger a system shutdown.mechurchlady wrote:From what I have heard in general is that a lot of ride go down because of guest stupidity like standing up on a ride or worst is items on the tracks. I remember before they built Silver Bullet at Knott's, the Walter K Steamboat (good riddance) and the Grand Sierra Scenic Railroad (on Freak's avatar) used to have to go through or over a small drawbridge; there were sensors that, if the boat approached the bridge while the train was coming, or vice versa, an RTL (ride trouble light) would go on, under the bridge the stagecoach traveled over. We had to check for that before dispatching the boat or the train. Anyway, one time there was an RTL, the train was in and so was the boat, and we couldn't figure out what was causing the RTL. Turns out that the landscaping crew had cut the bushes near the sensor too short, and sunlight was hitting the sensor, making the RTL. I don't recall how they fixed that, though.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I've had SM break down before while I was waiting, but never twice in one visit. Maybe it senses that since I rode the far superior version at DL (come on...gotta love a soundtrack by the guy who scored The Incredibles), it's only sloppy seconds for me...my hostile vibes made it go 101.

*Ahem* Calico Mine Ride, Train #3. :p:felinefan wrote:...and the Grand Sierra Scenic Railroad (on Freak's avatar)
I couldn't stand Grand Sierra. That train was lame. BUT you can run a CMR Train on Grand Sierra's track, since it's the same gauge.
RIP Bud Hurlbut.
You will be missed.

Sorry, Freak. Gotta admit there's a resemblence.
Oh, I think they might have put a hood of some kind to partly cover the sensor on the Walter K until the bushes grew back. Yeah, maybe they used Miracle Grow, too. :p:
