The First Time's The Best Time
When was the first time you went to a Disney park or resort?
I'll go first.
1956
I'll go first.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

1971, right before my first deployment to Vietnam, and other locations.

Can't remember, I don't remember a time when I hadn't been to Disneyland. I was born in 1974 though.

Re: The First Time's The Best Time
For me it was January 11, 1958. Disneyland was so new they didn't even *have* E-coupons yet.
Some of the fences were chain link painted white -- not something you'll find there today!
There were little signs in the plantings with the common and Latin names of the plants ... include some weeds.
The freight train was still a freight train. I remember standing in the stock car after dark with my dad and brother and mooing our way around back to Main Street.
My first time seeing trees that twinkled in the dark; first time aboard a pirate ship -- that flew! And my first (and sadly last) time I saw Walt Disney in person.
Ah, it was a glorious day, and I'm still slightly amazed my parents were cool enough to take us.
Best birthday ever, so far.

Fall 1972, it was my senior year of high school and the Magic Kingdom was sparkling new.

Cast previews. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.lady ulrike wrote:Ummm...didn't Disneyland open in 1955?
No, you caught me, it was a typo (now corrected). My first visit was 1958. Still before the invention of the E-coupon.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

I think sometime in 74, I was a baby (born in 73) and mom took me and my brother.

Re: The First Time's The Best Time
Well, considering all the moving, I'd have to say 1966 or 1967, after we came back from 6 months in Australia. We lived in Ventura County before that, so I seriously doubt we went before then. We lived in OC 1966-1980. I think 1979 or 1980 was the last time I was there.
