Roy Disney is gone

Post by Mansion_Boi » Mon Dec 01, 2003 1:38 am

Have you all heard Roy Disney has been dismissed by the company, he no longer holds a spot on the board of directors making this official, the Disney Family now holds no control on the company, the family has been kicked out, I personally am outragged, for me Roy was a wonderful man, truly deserving the name Disney. How does everyone feel about the change?

From his letter it sounds like he was forced out. I don't understand everything about business but what would leaving his name off of the slate of directors to be elected mean? Were his choices resign or be voted out?

Basically. This way he leaves with some dignity and the ability to have his letter of resignation be highly visible in the press :)

Personally, I love some of the points he made in his letter...it's the same damn thing that a lot of c.m.'s have been saying for YEARS!!! Especially the bits about micromanaging and cheaping out on new parks/attractions. Eisner has the board stacked in his favor...with any luck, he'll have another heart attack, but this time medical science won't work in his favor.

I don't know about death... but maybe we should start an e-mail campaign to his physician pleading for him to recommend retirement?

If he has another heart attack, it'd be his own damn fault. He's rich beyond imagination (okay, maybe that far, but he's f*ing rich), and he could have easily left when he had that quadruple bypass years ago.

Is he such a fool that he wants to work himself to death? What's the point? He must really enjoy making his employees feel like crap - that must be why he stays on... It can't be for more money. It can't be for the free theme park tickets or movie passes. What else is there? The power? He'd still have some power - all rich people have power.

considering he's now in full control without roy buzzing in his ear who says the person to succeed him will be any better.

they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."

I remember a couple of years ago my boyfriend (at the time) and I went to see the rose parade floats the day after New Years and saw Eisner. I swear the animosity I felt was quite overwhelming.

He helped bring the company back but now just needs to leave. As Roy put it we need new blood.

For some reason I find it hard to believe that's really Roy's website...
