Here's the scenerio. Friend and fellow Disney fanatic is getting married in Sept. She had already booked the bounceback for the week before. So she is still going and plans on having a sort bachorlette party/get together with a crew of folk from internet boards. Her and some of the others are going to Chef Mickey's then going to head over to the MK for the EMH that nite. (sunday 9-7).
She was just going to have everyone just hang out together. I suggested that since this was involving 12- 20ish bodies from toddler age to old fart she might want to make some sort of plans more then that. The problem with large groups (and small ones for that matter) I found out is that everyone wants to do something different and have different touring styles. In general ppl tend to need some direction and guidance when in a group. I dont mind planning stuff, keeps me excited about the trip and my face out of the fridge(trying to cut back) but she is very hard to pin down on what she wants to do. She keeps saying she will ask everyone else. Told her just make the plans and whoever can and wants to be there will and who doesnt, oh well. I think she is trying to please everyone but it is her party.
The only thing I have managed to get out of her so far is that she LOVES POTC. OK, so far so good, we can ask the CM at the dock if they will mind taking a shot of all of us on one boat. How many does POTC fit anyway?
Other then that I can't tie her down for some fun stuff to do. I suggested some sort of scavenger hunt. She is worried about the ages and the theme and didnt seem so keen on it. I told her, think about it --dont you normally play games of some sort at a party of that sort anyway? You have to have some sort of fun thing to do and it gives everyone a bit of break from everyone else. (4 hours is a long time for that much closeness) Not a big deal, easy enuf to adapt one of the hunts online to fit that. I would need wedding/engagement/romance type clues tho for the MK, that is the thing that has me stumped...HEY ZAZU :D:
So any more ideas that I can throw at her? None that will hurt please. The woman is a former pro wrestler and she will throw them back at mushy old me. :) I am usually good at this party planning stuff but how to do a wedding party themed game at the MK ??????? HELP!
I need suggestions

Re: I need suggestions
Wouldn't the wedding planning pavillion CM's have some ideas?
Possibly a hidden mickey contest?
see how many CM's photos you can get holding a "happy wedding" card or some item related to their wedding? (small stuffed toy)
or, since they like "Pirates" print out the lyrics, and video various people/CM's singing one or two lines of the song, then put it all together so that the "movie" jumps to different people singing different stanzas! (but have at least ONE friend leading the song, in the movie!)

She is not getting married there so I am not sure if you would have to be registered or whatever from them to do something. HMMM???GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:Wouldn't the wedding planning pavillion CM's have some ideas?

I was thinking about the Hidden Mickey thing too. But I cant figure out how to have someone participate if they dont have a digital with an LED. I was thinking of including a few in the scavenger hunt maybe with it worded out where they have to answer a question. Or just put a few photo type general ones (not/or HM's) in since the point of a scavenger hunt is get the most.
I really like the card idea that would be fun to even just have a bunch of CM's sign it for her.
I am sure someone will have a video camera of some sort. Not that I wanna be the one to set it up. :)
Re: I need suggestions
Will you have the ability to get to the park with a digital camera before this party? If so choose a couple dozen hidden mickeys from Steve Barrett's book and take some nice closeup photos. Then print a hunt sheet with thumbnail sized photos of the Mickey, and a description of the attraction (possibly a general hint like "this is in the cue area"), then a question that can only be answered once you find the Mickey. for example, in the cue for Snow White, find this Mickey (photo of a red 3 circle mickey on a white background). What is just to the right of the object this mickey is on. Or maybe What is this mickey printed on. Or what is written above this mickey.... you get the idea. (BTW I happen to know this mickey is printed on some shorts on the laundry line by the Dwarves hut.) You could even have a bonus question for a very unique Mickey with no location hint. If they can tell you where this Mickey can be found. Make sure there is enough info in the photo that it can only match one Mickey in the entire park, but not enough info to make it too easy. Then just score it 1 point for each correct answer and 5 (or 10, depending on how tough the bonus is) points for the bonus. This kind of hunt is very good for a wide range of ages. The 12 year old will have just as good a chance as the grandmother.vixen101485 wrote:I was thinking about the Hidden Mickey thing too. True she is not getting married there, but I would still bet that they could give you some tips and/or suggestions about some fun stuff to do!vixen101485 wrote:She is not getting married there so I am not sure if you would have to be registered or whatever from them to do something. HMMM???

I got DW the hidden Mickeys book, and she got hooked on finding them!
The "scavenger hunt" for hidden Mickeys is a great idea! You could play a variation of the license plate game, and see how many different states that you can find CM's from! (and have them sign a list!) (first name and city!)
on a list with the name of the states!
OR.....
you could see how many RUM drinks you could find!!(kids not included on this hunt!) hehehehe

I heartily endorse the book Rob mentioned above, and also the Hidden Mickey book by Steve Barrett. I'm not personally involved with either of them, either, but I've used them a lot. I've seen the HM book at Barnes & Noble and Books a Million, but am not sure about the Treasure Hunts book - I ordered mine directly from PassPorter.

Re: I need suggestions
Oh I wish I could do the photo HM thing that Randy mentioned but I wont get there till earlier in the same day as the event myself. So that one is out..I like it tho. DARN!
Cant hurt to call the wedding pavillion I suposse. Most they can say is no.
Ooo...I can do a twist on the state one. Since it is wedding themed, I can have them find someone who got married in certain states, in particular the bride's home state. I can mix some of those in with the other questions.
GP...tsk tsk, you know the MK is dry. I would have to have them head over to the POLY for tropical alcohol.....LOL
Thanks for the link Rob. I dont wanna spend a lot on supplies, etc. I figure between what I can pull out of my head trivia wise and the info in books I already have and the internet I should be good. I actually have a small scavenger hunt saved on disk somewhere. (I really need to organize my desk :rolleyes :) I just need more wedding/romance themed clues.
I dont want to go overboard , so I figure 45 minutes is long enuf for a scavenger hunt. Wont lose ppl permanently that way. LOL
I found a game called among other things, "Taboo" or "Dont say that" each person gets a set number of stickers and there is one word that you have to avoid. If someone hears another saying the taboo word then they give them one of their stickers. They can give them back if you say it, etc, etc. Whoever has the least amount at the end wins. I was thinking the bride's name would be a good one. :D:
Keep em' coming my talented friends.
