EB's SG Trip Report

Post by EeyoresButterfly » Tue Mar 18, 2008 8:39 pm

So I just got back from Spring Break, and as per usual, there were many SG's.

Before I go any further I would like to say to the CM's: You all rock! As most of you know I was trying to do something special for my third graders, and everybody made sure that that happened. One Fantasyland CM gave me beads for all of my kids at P&P, a DVC CM gave me an entire roll of stickers, a merchandise CM gave me little bags to use as goodie bags, and the Disney Dreams Come True Parade characters took a picture with the letter my kids wrote, and signed a poster for them.

Now, onto the SG's:

Our first day we spent the evening at DHS, and it was the last day of the cheerleading competition. Not only were there seven year olds tarted up like hookers, several teams decided they just had to cheer in the line for ToT, prompting other guests to scream "shut up" at the top of their lungs, and they wonder why we dislike the cheerleaders?

There were the usual SGs who walked across the benches in the Lion King or Fantasmic. In ToT, a group left the SB line and ducked into the FP line when they were nearly there, I saw them being directed back the way they came.

I went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ and got to watch Minnie and Mickey get ambushed by drunk guests as they were leaving for the night. The attendants left Mickey since he was almost backstage to try to extricate Minnie, and poor Mickey was ambushed by drunk Scottish guests trying to get their picture with him while yelling "Long live Scotland!" I don't understand why they have free alcohol at a place with characters.

The real kicker for me was the possibly drunk CM who led the Behind the Seeds Tour at the Land Pavilion. Not only did he make many inappropriate comments (for instance, all females are apparently nefarious creatures), he kept losing his train of thought, stumbled around, and even talked about getting drunk at work! Needless to say, I reported him.

Glad to hear the trip went well.

But as for your SGs- wow! You had quite a few doozys there. Poor Mickey. I don't get why alcohol is served at character meals (outside the MK) either.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

My gosh, I was there during the cheerleader what-have-you (Saturday, Mar. 8). MGM - I still call it that - was an absolute zoo. Maybe it's me, but I just don't *get* the whole pre-teen thing about caking oneself in makeup and wearing a cheer outfit to the *park*. If anything, I dress for comfort at Disney, and it was rather cool that day with a stiff wind blowing.

The best line of the day was when we were boarding Tower. Behind us the CM asked, "How many in your party?" And the girl said, "22". No joke. And it was a full line of cheerleaders.

Good thing I wasn't in *that* elevator!

Interestingly, we went over to MK right after that and it was pretty calm, cool, and collected. No hordes of similar-clothes-wearing people to be found.

Is there something about the Studios that attracts said competitions? I certainly don't see where they happen to be...

They are all expressing their individuality and uniqueness by wearing the same outfits and acting the same way!!

Speaking of SG's during your trip, how about those pirates that decided to just come on in the exit of a treasure spot despite a clearly maked "EXIT ONLY" sign... you know who you are KidAtHeart and Big Wallaby :P

sorry to steal the thunder from your trip EB, but I promised them they'd end up on the board for their SGT where they least expect it. And that is in a trip report featuring SGTs.

If it's during the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, it just sets the stage for more partaking and eventually some DGT's (drunk guest tricks). Luckily, I didn't see any of that during my time at WDW recently. Even at Jellyrolls, everyone was jovial.

Makes me wonder how many times MK / DL security finds and / or confiscates nips hidden by the parents to get around the whole "dry park" thing...
