Fastpass question

Post by BRWombat » Tue Mar 18, 2008 11:04 am

If you've been following my trip report, you've read that I had another guest throw a question at me that I couldn't answer. Basically, if you get a Fastpass for an attraction at one park, could you exit the park, go to another park, and get a Fastpass for another attraction right away? Are the Fastpass systems linked between the parks?

I have absolutely no use for the answer to this question, by the way, but I am curious (and I can't stand not being able to answer a Disney question!). Besides, if "usefulness" were required for retaining knowledge, I'd have to clear out 97% of what I know from my brain.

I'm thinking the answer is no, although by the time you exit the park, get your form of transportation, arrive at the new park, make it through the tunrstiles, and get to the attraction, chances are that it will be time for a new one anyway. And that would meant that they are likely not using their first FP, so what is the point?

Why would the guest even need to know, unless he was trying to for the "ride "X" number of attractions at different parks within so many hours" contest.

Or maybe he was from another board, and ws trying to see how much he could "commando" the attractions by going back and forth to different parks.

Because someone claimed you could hit all the attractions at all the parks using fastpass in one day!!(and a really fast car!)

I kind of figured that... You know, in retrospect, the guest probably was thinking along the lines of the original FP timing, where you couldn't get another one until the time of the first one was passed. The question would make more sense if you think of getting, say, a Soarin' FP with a late-evening return time, and you plan on returning to Epcot that night to use the FP, but in the meantime you want to go somewhere else, and you're wondering if you can't get another FP anywhere until that same late-evening time.

I'm definitely wasting too much brain power on this. (No jokes about how little I have to spare, please. :cool :)

At the DLR, DL's and DCA's systems aren't connected, and we're right next door to each other (making it much more likely for Guests to hold Fastpasses at both parks). I can't see why WDW would connect their systems, particularly given how far their parks are from one another.

As far as DL goes, yes you can get a FP from both parks, I did it on Saturday. I rode Buzz a few times then, knowing they would only check the start time on a FP I got one for later and headed over to DCA went right to tower and got a FP then walked on to the ride. I think I still have it because I never got back for a second ride that day. Time between the two was maybe 20 minutes. I have had several CM's tell me the parks are not networked but there are plans in the future to do it.

There was a time at DL where you could get a FP for HM, POTC and one of the other FP rides since HM and POTC were not on the network, Now POTC does not have FP and HM only during the holiday overlay and it is on the network now, I have tried it.

I dont know about WDW since I spend lots of time at each park due to travel times between the parks and wouldnt think it effeective to go park to park for FP's then back to ride. I will compile a list for my Nov trip of rides I want to attempt to do all in one day at each of the parks. i probably wont use FP when I attempt it though, not unless the times are short and I have several at that park.

Someday, I would like to hit at least one ride at each park at WDW then hop on a plane and fly to Cal and hit the same rides at DL/DCA. Something like POTC, HM, ToT, ST, Soarin, Dinosaur/Indy on both coasts.

yes I'm nuts.

Steve

DW and I are going to try that in reverse. We are going to DLR in September, then a week later go to WDW, for that very idea!

Yes. It just has to be 2 hours after you get the first one.

SG question: If I have a FP for an attraction and I miss the window, can I still use that FP?

It's up to the CM. You technically are not supposed to, but for the most part they will let you.
