I hate racism in any form.
I went into the bathroom at work today and saw some business cards on top of the mop rack (the mop sink is in the men's room at my store) which is right by the normal sink. I pick them up intending to just throw them away but the two cards on top were offensive to me so I gave them to my store manger who put them in the locked file drawer only he has access to and later faxed a copy with a note about the situation over to our district manager. A third card was just a normal one advertising some local business so I just tossed it. What the cards said is below though there may have been a word or two more or less at the end of the last line:
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

The police should be made aware as well. I'm sure they were meant to intimidate. :mad:Shorty82 wrote:I went into the bathroom at work today and saw some business cards on top of the mop rack (the mop sink is in the men's room at my store) which is right by the normal sink. Re: I hate racism in any form.
Years ago a branch of the KKK decided to spread the wealth around and take on an Indian tribe. They showed up in their cool robes and hoods expecting to kick some redman's ass. The Indians routed the KKK in what was probably a replay of the Little Big Horn battle. The KKK never returned.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

That kind of stuff just makes you feel sad, knowing someone is wasting their life spreading that kind of poop around. I have had to deal with those morons from time to time, and its funny how they react. I was listening to one guy spew racist stuff, and I started to laugh, because it was just so absurd! Dumb poopyhead finally just shut up!!
The bad part is they hide behind religion. I have seen them justify their stance by using the Bible to say certain things. It has made me very aware that when someone starts to spout religion, they may be hiding a lot, and trying to deflect the focus. Racists, child molesters, and other aborant behaviour is sadly hidden behind a religious facade.
The good thing is that you found it before it was spread!!

That's disturbing. Good choice in reporting it. I remember acting in a school production of To Kill A Mockingbird when I was a senior and I had to wear a KKK robe in one scene. When we came on the stage there was an audible gasp. It was very difficult to do that role and I can safely say that was one of the most challenging and emotionally exhausting shows I have EVER done. Every performance the entire cast would end up crying because it was such a powerful show. It was difficult making the transition between the KKK member and the Judge as I played many roles in that show, including the Assistant Director. The show was a complete sell-out and everyone raved about it. Racism is never good, I judge people by their actions, never their appearance.

Well, the good part is to bring the horrors of it out in a safe setting like the stage, and movies, so that we can get rid of it!!CMGUY89 wrote:That's disturbing. Good choice in reporting it. Very true. It was so hard to first get into character and portray that sort of ignorance/intolerance, and then revert back to my normal, tolerant, accepting self. It is something I'll never forget as long as I live, but sometimes it feels like it left a scar too.

The only good thing that I have noticed in dealing with these types, is that it has made me more aware of ALL types of racist views. A lot of terms that some people use, for example, in conversation containes racial overtones and connatations. Sadly, it has creeped into certain types of music, and has "de-sensitized" some into thinking its okay to call a women the "B" word, or call a guy to "P" word, like it is a badge of honor to expound on how bad you can treat women, or resort to violence!CMGUY89 wrote:Very true. I wonder if this attitude is a prelude to becomeing an SG?? Maybe thats why they seem to be showing up, not just at WDW or DLR, but in everyday life!!

I am not hoping to stir up a fight but I DETEST when people use gay to describe something. As a straight person I think this is disrespectful to them. It is commonly accepted among my generation to say something is "so gay" meaning, is stupid. Since when did gay become an insult? My favorite is something my very straight Spanish teacher once said.
Student: Spanish is so gay!
Teacher: By gay do you mean it likes other male languages and has exquisite fashion sense?
Just another illustration of how my generation enjoys being ignorant. Not a badge of honor for me, by any stretch of the imagination.

Trouble is, when I was growing up, and probably others on this board, the term GAY simply meant haveing a good and fun time. Even reflected in various songs and cartoons! 'The three gay cabarillos" for one, and many other song lyrics.CMGUY89 wrote:I am not hoping to stir up a fight but I DETEST when people use gay to describe something.
