I was watching All Dogs Go To Heaven and when I get to the scene
where the king gator trys to eat charlie and starts to sing, I think, wow, where have I heard that voice before. and after some research I find it's Ken Page who did Oogie Boogie for Disney.

He has a very distinct voice. found out he was also a member of CATS once too.

Ugh. Last I checked, a musical was supposed to have a *plot* before it could be considered decent.

Aside from that, I'm definitely a fan of this guy's work. Cool that you recognized him based on that fairly brief appearance! :)

There are some voices that are automatic recognition. And Disney has been very good at attracting them. Once you know Thurl Ravenscroft's voice it's hard to miss recognizing him. Or think of all the roles by Sterling Holloway. And who but Gilbert Gotfried could ever sound like him. :D: And since Disney tends to use many of their voice talent people over and over, it gets easier and easier to spot favorites with even a short sample.

Sometimes it's fun when a voice catches your attention in an unexpected moment. My parents have a record that I was recently dubbing for them called "Songs of the National Parks". I didn't really look at the cover, just began the dub. But the narrator immediately caught my ear. I didn't even have to look at the cover to know (tho I did double check) that the narrator is Thurl Ravenscroft.

Oh I love them!!!!!!! I don't know if you are aging yourself, I am 53 and will always LOVE "Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives. Andy Devine, why I sound like him right now with my croaky layngitic voice. It still has not healed. I AM sick this time!

I always like Grandpappy Amos of the real McCoys myself! ;) And three of my all time fave singers in the world, that I never fail to recognize immediately: Old Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra for you young ones that don't know him by that name, Bob Goulet who was soooooooooooooo good, and recently passed away and Rosemary Clooney, YES she was George Clooneys Aunt! I guess I would have to add Bing Crosby too, because he was such a crooner. One of my favorite films of all time is White Christmas with Bing, Rosemary Clooney, Vera Ellen and probably one of my favorite entertainers of all, Danny Kaye!!!! I love the old movies from the 1930's, 40's and 50's, even into the 60's. I am ever so fond of musicals! Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and all the great actors of that time: JOHN WAYNE, THE Duke!!!!!! Jimmy Stewart, (another VERY recognizable voice!) Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Gary Cooper and sooooo many more....Audrey Hepburn (what an amazing human being she was!)

And who could ever forget Mr. Haney from Green Acres! That WAS a voice! :twisted:

Love this walk down Memory Lane. :) Does anyone else remember when they used to show all the old musicals on Saturdays? I always watched Shirley Temple movies and the greatest musicals ever all on Saturday afternoon TV back in the 1960's.

I think Ted Turner has bought up most of the old movies and is being stingy. I saw recently listed on AMC, a movie made in the 1990's. 1990 is not classic...YET! American Movie Classics! I always thought that meant the classic old stuff. Now it is so hard to find those old films anywhere on the tube. I catch some of the old film noir gangster flicks off and on, but rarely any musicals. I am trying to build my own collection of vids and DVDs. Ted has a deathgrip on The African Queen. It has not been released on DVD and I don't know when it will be. I am waiting for that one. I need to put it next to my copy of Casblanca!!!! I just love the old films. I could spend a whole day just watching musical after musical!!!!!! That makes me happy!!!!!!!!

Ooooh, South Pacific, GiGi, American in Paris.....ahhhhhhhhhh...

I think I will watch some old films today, lying in bed with my antibiotics, hot cocoa and kleenex!
