Possible Trip to WDW in January...Advice?
Before I begin, this is all dependent on Disneyland scheduling giving me the days off that I requested, so it may or may not go through.
Anyway, armed with a 50% hotel room discount, free airline tickets (thanks cancelled previous trip!), and a Disney Main Entrance Pass, I'm thinking of visiting what my co-workers often refer to sarcastically as "Florida" (aka WDW) 8-9 January.
This is my first trip to Florida, and truth be told, I'm flying by the seat of my pants. I have no idea what I should see while at WDW, or for that matter, where I should stay (I do have 50% off, but I'm still on a bit of a budget).
Anyway, does anyone have any ideas what I have GOT to see while I'm visiting our fellow CMs on the east coast. Take into account that I've only been to Disneyland and really don't know anything about the place other than the fact that Magic Kingdom Park is apparently a "Disneyland the size of San Francisco" o_O.
Also, which of the resort hotels would you recommend, going from your experiences?
Thanks in advance!

Personally I think 2 days is WAYYY too short. But since time is of the essence here goes.glendalais wrote:Before I begin, this is all dependent on Disneyland scheduling giving me the days off that I requested, so it may or may not go through.

Hotel
If you are on a budget I would suggest Coronado or Caribbean. They are moderate so they balance the the luxury with price. They are also conveniently located near Epcot and Studios. Things you HAVE to see eh? These are attractions you can't get at DL
Well at Studios you have to see Great Movie Ride and our version of Tower of Terror as well as Rockin' Rollercoaster.
At Epcot try to see as much as you can in World Showcase. Test track, Mission: Space, SSE, and Energy if you need a break.
DAK
Everest, Dinosaur, Kilomanjaro Safaris, and Kali River Rapids.
MK
Everything is pretty much the same, but you do have to see Carousel of Progress.
Use magical express to get to and from the airport. It's free, efficient, and will help you to use your travel days in the park more efficiently.
Have fun and come visit me at Living With The Land, I'll be on my winter season there.

Wow, only two days? I have to defer to Zazu or someone like that.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Two days isn't really enough time to do the Magic Kingdom let alone the other 3 parks too.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

You could spend one day at Epcot, Studios, and Animal Kingdom, and spend the other day taking a "Misguided Tour" of the Magic Kingdom. It's priced for a CM's budget!

I know it's short. I put in for a week off, but since I'm unlikely to get that, I told my scheduler that I would settle for two days off. Hopefully I get the former.
Right now, I'm thinking that I'll mainly concentrate on Epcot and MK, with a mad dash over to Disney Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM) to catch Fantasmic! on my last night, and maybe a quick jaunt over to Animal Kingdom to ride Kiliminjaro Safari and attempt to see a certain marsupial. I'm really sensative, and tend to avoid rides like ToT and Splash even here at DL, so things like Test Track and Mission: Space are out of the question.
I'm still trying to work out the details (like putting in for a day off when I get back so I don't end up having to rush from the airport to work, and taking a wait and see attitude towards whether I get any days off at all), but hopefully I'll be able to come and see it.

I am not a CM, but if I had that limited of time, I would definitely plan on seeing EPCOT and maybe split a day at The Studios and DAK. I will pray that you get the full week, then you can see lots of things! :D:

With airport security, time getting to your resort, getting to a park and being tired means the first day is screwed up and that leaves one day to do parks and fly out. Even if you get a midnight filight you are pushing yourself too hard. If you arrive on a redeye then you have to carry your bags until the afternoon when you check in or stop at the hotel and hope they will hold your bags.
See what you cannot see at DL and single line, fast pass everything. Check online to see what construction, closures and other impediments may exists.
you are insane to try this
