Walking in a Winter Wonderland....

Post by Princess Susi » Sun Dec 09, 2007 10:05 am

Here are some pictures of our beautiful Winter snow! :snowman: These were taken yesterday afternoon. Since then, we have another 4 inches of snow... It is still snowing now,, but should stop around Noon. Then....we get another storm Monday night-Tuesday morning, then yet ANOTHER storm Thursday with *significant* snow they say. Of course they don't know. I just want to be able to get out of here on the 20th. Last year we had 5 FEET on the ground the day we left for DL, and a freind with a 4 wheel drive got us to the airport where our flight was cncelled and we waited 14 hours for the next available seats, due to our December blizzards! That BEST NOT happen this year Because if it does? Old Mother Menopause :D: is gonna kick Old Man Winter in his yarbles!

Pour the cocoa, roast the chestnuts and enjoy the snow from right there in front of your warm computer! :p: (and please send us some of your 80 degrees from Florida, those of you down there in the land of citrus fruit and Giant Mice!

Image

You can usually see the Rockys over the tops of the houses from this view. NOT yesterday, or even today! We have those nice, big, fat flakes coming down right now! Purty!

Yes that is our pool under the cover and the small amount of snow. There is more today. I have some more pics taken this morning to upload to show you just how purty it is today! It is quiet and the snow is faslling and yes, I am romanticizing this whole thing....But it IS pretty, just colder than a witches you know what! It is 12 degrees this morning! Predicted high temp today? 24 degrees! :D:

Image

Like I said, this pic was taken yesterday...We have 4-5 more inches on the ground now...

Image
Ooooooh, it is getting thicker on the ground!

Image

That's our *pigeon Owl* on the post..supposed to keep the flying rats from crapping all over the deck...doesn't work. I saw the pigeons laughing and pointing at it the other day!

These are Ralph's rose bushes under the snow... :( They will be all right, they are hibernating til Spring... :)

Image

Still from yesterday...here is our *stream, pond and waterfall at the side of the pool. A little too small for some good iceskating...Maybe I should take the cover off the pool and let it freeze up and we could have our very own ice rink. Cept in Spring the pool would NOT hold water, from all the cracks that would happen from the freezing temps over 3-4 months...

Looks like it's cold enough to freeze the nuts off of a steel bridge. :snowman:

Pretty, but I'll stay in Florida, thanks.

Is this the same system that closed I-5 between Portland and Seattle for a few days?

This one came up from the South, at least the moisture did from the gulf, if you look at a weather map right now, the jey stream took a big dip to the south. We get the cold temps coming down from Canada and the moisture up from the gulf carried on the jet stream and they mix to make a beautiful Winter postcard. Just wait til you see the pics of Hplar shoveling, you will pee your pants they are soooooooo...funny and I am NOT kidding. So, anyway two more snow storms on the way this week and it ain't gona get out of the 20s and 30s during the day all week and overnight lows? Down into the low teens and single digits. This stuf is not going to melt anytime soon. It is just going to freeze up the streets and make a big nightmare for tomorow's commute. They usually get a good dose of Mag Chloride on the streets and the plows are out and they sanding some of the other streets, so the main highways will be okay, just the secondary streets, like where we live, won't get plowed. And if we do get the other two storms,we will have agood pack here in town.

One year after a big blizzard, the city shut down the strrets and we saw a 4 wheel drive pickup towing a dude on a snowboard behind it down the street!...Dumbass. That was dangerous. That was the 03 blizzard, We had 5 ft in front of our front door. Last yr was worse, we had 6 ft in front of our door and 4 ft deep covering the streets, that is why they shut down the airport here for 2 and half days at Christmas last year. It was NASTY! We were shoveling snow round the clock, 1 in the morning was my turn, then Ralph came out to spell me and then I came back out. We took turns all night . It was futile. The snow was coming down faster than we could shovel it off and no one was gong anywhere anyway. Denver shut down. We are praying to the Tiki Gods that we do NOT get that this yr. We MUST get out of here on the 20th and go experience the fake *snoape* in DL!!!! It sure as heck will NOT be as cold as it is here.

This cold will freeze the nuts off of the TREES, hobie! LOL!
It is too damn cold for anything, except my menopausal heatwaves like it when I go stand outside. You'll see when I get the most recent pics uploaded, you will crack up at us SF Bay Area Californians dealing with the weather here :D:
Send us some of that 80 degrees. We can use it right about now! :p:

Here is one from a little while ago. Hplar pics on the way! Get ready for a laugh! Yes, that is our street just in front of that fence and just behind the scrawny tree!
