Considering they are in hot weather, that was a lot of dancing! (I noticed one of my favorite songs from my childhood was being butchered by the crowd!)

"Oo ee oo ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang!!!"

That reminds me of the One-eyed, One-horned, Blind Purple Eater song. About a year ago, I was riding with someone and her baby, and she had a CD on which had a kids version of the song, with kids singing along. My reaction came in along the lines of "WTF?!?"

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

That is actually the "One eyed one horn flying purple people eater" and it is the same time of the guy who wrote the "witch doctor" (oo ee oo ah ah...)

HE later went on the "invent" Alvin and the chipmunks!
I remember hearing both of the songs on the radio and they were cool!!
But the only thing the monster wanted to do was be a singer in a rock and roll band!!!!!

Same person. Dave Bagdazarian recorded Witch Doctor with the "special effects". With the success of that song he changed his name to a easier to remember Dave Seville and began hanging around with Theodore, Simon and Alvin. So you are correct that you probably heard Witch Doctor well before the appearance of the Chimpunks but the same Dave was the mind behind them all.

Now do you remember which song was the first song that was identified with the Chipmunks?

The one I remember was "Christmas song" but I seem to remember my sisters playing a 45 over and over of something else!

You are correct. Later the same year that Witch Doctor became a hit. The title of the song is "the Chipmunk Song (Christmas, don't be late).

BTW I made a small boo-boo. His name is Ross Bagdasarian.

I just looked at IMDB and learned that he got the idea for the Chipmunk Song from his young son repetedly asking when is Christmas coming...in July.

I had looked that up several days ago, it was mentioned on another board and I couldn't remember the year!! Didn't realize it was 1958! wonder why he had a stage name? Hmmmmm, didn't want to have kids following him asking for Alvin!!
