Like They Didn't See This Coming?
Over at Brand X forum, there were threads not too long ago about how you could get a diver at the Coral Reef restaurant in Epcot to hold up a celebratory sign for you in the tank for free. Didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what was gonna happen. Now all of a sudden the dozens and dozens of people calling are being told it was discontinued. Don't they know the recipe?
1) Find fun, unique, free thing.
2) Share it with a few hundred thousand of your best friends on the internet, including full contact information.
3) Hundred thousand friends all demand it
4) Fun thing is discontinued.
Duh!! And yet they act surprised that it's gone now.

Same thing with Le Cellier. Everyone posted how good the food is at that restaurant, and now you can't get an ADR without calling months in advance. Early December used to be a great time to visit WDW, but not anymore since that information has been posted everywhere.

Re: Like They Didn't See This Coming?
A couple of months ago on TPA&S someone started a thread asking that people post their best secret about WDW.
I commented that I knew what were probably the best spots available to Guests for viewing fireworks at the various parks. I also said that I wanted to keep these uncrowded so I would not post them. If people wanted to search them out it was their business.
I later found (as a moderator I can see all reported posts) that someone had reported my post as extremely rude and that I should not have said anything at all.
Basically I was pointing out the stupidity of the question.

When I hear someone asking the best place to view, say, Wishes, I alway say "Backstage".
Kinda ends the discussion right there.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Can't blame you. The best-kept secrets... will not be posted in a public forum, because then they'd no longer be the best-kept secrets!!Cheshire Figment wrote:A couple of months ago on TPA&S someone started a thread asking that people post their best secret about WDW.

Exactly why I dont tell folks about online contests to win trips to Disney parks or even other contests local or otherwise. Ya think I want more competition? Hell no!
Oh Hey Chessie you will tell me tho right? LOL I like my spots, they might not be the best but they are the least crowded which to me is more important then the perfect photo op. Good lord they are fireworks....as long as you arent under a tree you are good to go... just look up..LOL

Which is also why I don't tell everyone everything whom I give trip advice to WDW to. ;)
Gotta save some of the secrets to myself.

Re: Like They Didn't See This Coming?
Has anyone ever been tempted to tell them the exact opposite--like actually the worst place to see the fireworks, etc.? This is, of course, assuming you never see/hear from that person again.... :D:

Re: Like They Didn't See This Coming?
As per fireworks, the best place to see them is inside the Country Bear Jamboree.
Actually the best place to watch fireworks is inside the fallout zone in Fantasyland, since you not only get to see them, you feel them as well
. But I wouldn't recomend that to ANY guest OR Cast Member (as you will get a saftey reprimand and/or termed unless you are working a Wishes shift and even then you can only go about 5 feet from the ropes)
I love working Wishes (and Magic Music and Mayhem, but most of all Happy HalloWishes), and have seen those shows from every possible angle around the castle. Personally I love watching it as a guest in Fantasyland by the ropes since my favorite position when working is either the ropes by philhar or snow white. The front of the castle is too crowded to really enjoy anything, and unless you are at the end of mainstreet, most of the lower level main site pyro is blocked by the castle.
Looking forward to Christmas Party Wishes shifts (6pm Wishes, 9:30 Holiday Wishes = 6.5 hour Wishes shift!)
