Mildly interesting news story on Heely's

Post by ktulu » Thu Oct 11, 2007 10:21 pm

Local channel did a story on Heely's, turns out the company is based in Carrollton, TX, which is close to Wombat and I. Anyway, story is about the company being in trouble because of all the injuries and their stock has gone down. Anyone want some hate mail personally delivered?

Well, considering we almost had a couple kids end up as hood ornaments for my wheelchair when we were going down the monorail ramp to MK because they wouldn't stop using the freeking things, I hope they take them off the market.

They are a menace. Much like many of the children who wear them (and yes I am a parent so I know a menace when I see one) I know many nice children too. But some of them are just looking for people to injure with those suckers. Great ideas. Shoes that make the child fall backward almost certainly guaranteeing either a broken wrist or a cracked head. Genius.

Courage in your own.

Serving papers?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

A lawyer serving his own papers, man that's a good one. The visual I'm getting is priceless!

I wonder if anyone has done studies to see how those stupid things affect kids' posture and/or foot development. After all, if they don't want to roll on the wheels, they practically have to walk on their tiptoes.

I smiled inside when I was working at DCA Strollers and a security guard walked a kid over and asked me to pop out the wheels on a pair of those things. Then my smile quickly turned to frustration when the wheel was harder to pop out than it looked.

They have. I saw a story on the news a while back and the docs were saying it is terrible for the feet. I am sure there are articles on the web about it. I would not want to wear roller skates all the time and that is what these kids are doing. They are dangerous...to other people! Anywhere you go the kids have these on and you almost get *runned* over by them! Always a new fad for the wee ones. I wonder what is next. Hover crafts that they can buzz us with? I shudder to think. Gaaaaahhhh...I am starting to sound like my mom! I swore that would never happen!

I'll take one... but the top speed must be really low if they let you use it with a buzz... hovercraft are hard enough without the added effects...
