Music hath charms...

Post by BRWombat » Tue Oct 09, 2007 9:39 am

Don't know exactly how to categorize this -- a stupid non-guest trick? tales of the weird? kind-of cute funny story? -- but this cracked me up. The office manager of my chorus, the Vocal Majority, recently shared with the group some of the interesting phone calls she fields from around the world, many about the effects of the VM's music on people's lives. It's pretty cool to hear how the group's CD's have inspired people or helped them through illness, grief, loneliness... but I have to say my favorite was this one:

An Idaho farmer called up one day, having worn out his last CD from playing it so much, desperate to have several Vocal Majority CD's overnighted to him "so his roses won't die." Seems he has over 40,000 rose bushes, and has the entire 300 acres wired for sound. He plays the VM 24/7, saying that no other music makes his roses grow as big or as beautiful! :)

And here you thought I was just another pretty face. :D:

Oh look a pretty flower with good taste in music! LOL!
That is interesting as I have heard that music can make house plants grow stronger and healthier. Just as long as it is not fitty cent or Ozzie! :D:
Just think barrister, you are the resason for beautiful roses!

That would be something you need to discuss with your wife.

Thorny it is!!

I had a junior high history teacher named Norton Thornton. His son was the swimming coach and was named Norton Thornton Jr. Do you like names that roll off the tongue? I do.

Obviously their parents didn't.

Having graduated high school with a year to spare, this was still considered funny at the time. A kid in my law class in Sophomore year was picked as a juror, and all the jurors had to come up with personas. His was Jamal Rasheed Mohammed Abu Apu Ahmed and about fourteen other Muslim names, one right after the other. When his name was read at roll call, he had it memorized so that if they messed up, he would become agitated and sometimes even left the room in a hissy fit.

Uh, I forgot something there last night... That was a year to spare before 9/11. Please reread that post now, it will make much more sense.
