Idiot bus driver!

Post by Cranbiz » Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:25 pm

This has got to be the stupidist thing I have ever seen by a driver (any so far I have seen a lot of stupid things.

Last night I was working PI and about 6:30pm I left the island heading for Coronado. I was stopped at the lights by Circe and I was next to 4723. I see the driver pull out a romance novel and start reading! She had the book in the window well so that her guests could not see her reading.

I feel that this is not only stupid but dangerous! While she is concentrating on reading andthing could be happening on her bus or on the roadway in front of her.

I really want to tell a manager about this. What does the wise group here think?

I agree, but only to the extent that's she's in charge of a bus and needs to stay aware of what's happening onboard. I must confess that I've read stuff -- at long red lights only -- when alone in my car.

I can understand having a book for those times when the busses get bunched up and a long stop at a loadzone to let things get spread back out. But when the bus (or any vehicle) is in motion or temporarily stopped at a traffic control device, is not the time to read a book or anything else. Since the driver had already found where to put the book where it was out of sight tends to indicate that this is not the first time.

My opinion, a quiet mention to the supervisor to help clear up behavior before it becomes a major issue, would not be out of place.

I would be disappointed if you couldn't figure out where I stand on the issue. I will have to respectfully disagree with Randy, while at the same time agreeing with him. I agree that showing class would include a quiet word to a supervisor, but I also think that this has to be an ongoing problem.

I have a book that I keep with me for the times waiting for a dispatch at Epcot and Studios. But reading on the road? She has to know it's stupid to do.

Actually, what I would love is if we could find out who it was, then on my next day off I'd go ride her bus and see if I could catch her. If I could, I would ask to see a manager right then and there.

You said 4723, yesterday the 19th, 6:30 PM. Next time I see the bus at FIW or anywhere, I'll find out who it was. Forgive me if I don't broadcast her name here when I find her name.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

There are 2 issues here, first and most important one is the safety aspect. I do know where Wallaby stands and I'm really leaning in that direction.

The other issue is Show. If this is not bad show, what is? I suppose she could have been on her cell phone while reading.

One of the DTD managers went thru bus core training with me, I think it's about time to see her.
