Disney Hollywood Studios?!?
That means I have to stop my Mickey's Got Money gag on my bus. Crap.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
Re: Disney Hollywood Studios?!?
hunh?? Did they actually change the name of MGM? I heard they wanted/needed to, but did not know it was happening now.

It is all over the news. When Disney and MGM parted ways Disney got to keep the park name. The problem is that Disney has many various projects like Pixar's Cars, animation's Bambi, Touchstone, Baby Einstein, lives shows like Bear in the House, movies, radio, internet and so much more than the old Hollywood.
They are planning to turn the park on its heels and get rid of a lot of the MGM older ages of media and replace it or add new stuff like Toy Story Mania. This should be an interesting thread.
Playhouse Disney -- Live on Stage! will be updated with stars from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins and Handy Manny.

High School Musical Pep Rally will become "Disney's High School Musical 2: School's Out!"The current "Disney Stars and Motor Cars" parade will be replaced with "Block Party Bash," a higher-energy play, party and dance, featuring the "Disney Pixar Films Pals,"

Re: Disney Hollywood Studios?!?
This line from Jim Hill's article makes me want to see DCA become WDCA really really bad.
"The Imagineers want to shift DCA from being a theme park that tells these very broad stories about Southern California to becoming a place that tells very specific stories. All of the adventures that one man had while he was living in California. In short ... Walt Disney's California Adventure."
Sure there are challenges, but that article has some things that would be so awesome to see.

I absolutely think they're taking Studios the right way, and it all sounds rather fun with the changes... It'll be great to see even more go into a park that started from being a place you go for a quick morning to an all-day thing, and to see where they will take it next.
Still, I really like making the Mickey's Got Money joke :p:

Re: Disney Hollywood Studios?!?
Well I am quite disappointed. Not about the name, it needed changed and the generic Hollywood studios is fine i guess. What is not cool is the way they want to get away from the golden age theme - basically make it less of a theme park in my opinion.
IT just sounds like they are going to throw in a bunch of random crap AKA: "what's hot this year," and not bother with an overall theme. Don't they already use pixar way too much?
But then again, they probably fired all the creative talent in the parks division of the company. Heck they couldn't even come up with a new theme for next year so they extended the year of a million dreams... at least they could call it Another Year of a Million Dreams, or More Years of a Million Dreams... as it is now, i just think it proves Mickey can't count. lol.

Mickey can count, but only to eight! After that he really just has to estimate, so give the poor mouse a break! He's differently abled! (Next you're gonna tell us bakers can't count because they always give you thirteen when they're only supposed to give you twelve...again, it's a finger limitation!) :p:

Re: Disney Hollywood Studios?!?
They'll have to completely re-do the Great Movie Ride to remove all the references to MGM movies like "Wizard of Oz". I hope it doesn't get ruined since it's my favorite attraction at that park.

I have a feeling guests will continue to call the park "MGM" for a long, long time....

Re: Disney Hollywood Studios?!?
According to a thread I read earlier on Board X not only are the scenes under a different contract from the name The Wizard of Oz isn't owned by MGM anyways.Morning wrote:They'll have to completely re-do the Great Movie Ride to remove all the references to MGM movies like "Wizard of Oz". From Board X:
Poster 1 wrote:My only concern is the GMR - especially the Wizard of Oz section. Is that going bye-bye? :(
Poster 2 wrote:the name and content were all separate contracts. as it is, wizard of oz is NOT owned by Sony/MGM, it's owned by Warner Brothers I believe.
And the thread there goes on and on and on and on and on (ad nauseum) mostly about how they like or dislike the new name, namely the Hollywood part. Not about the new attractions, not about the new shows, not about the new themes, they go on about the blasted name! It's still Disney Studios, it just has "Hollywood" in the middle instead of "MGM".Poster 3 wrote:It's owned by Turner Classic Movies, which is owned by Turner Broadcasting System who merged with Time Warner. This puts TCM under the same corporate umbrella as Warner Bros. Hope that helps!
ALRIGHT ALREADY!! You either like or don't like the new name, that's no reason to be the 1000th person in the thread to say the exact same f***ing thing!
