Rut Ro, I'm a Narc

Post by ICStupidPeople » Tue Jul 24, 2007 1:44 am

Just returned from a weekend at the land. Once again, I am amazed at the service you guys give at DL. Kudos!

But anywho....

Saturday, the wait for Indy was 50-60 minutes in the afternoon. We were using our fastpasses and walking through the queue when a group of teens leaving the ride decided that they would hop the rope and rejoin the line heading towards the ride (this was well past the point where the CM's take your fp ticket or allow the standby line to enter the queue). A man with his son saw the teens "get away with it" and decided him and his son would do the same.

I really didn't intend on ratting them out, but when we all got up to where the cm's allow the wheelchairs to enter, I informed the CM that they should put someone on the ropes further down because people were hopping the line. She stopped the line from moving and asked me which ones (they were the 10 or so people in front of me, not hard to point them out) and I did. In a way, I feel bad for being a narc, but part of me thinks that if they got away with it once, they would again and again; not to mention the quality parenting of the man doing it with his son. To me, letting it go would have contributed to the "age of entitlement" in our society. The CM pulled them all out of line and had them exit the queue. They knew they were busted and offered no argument.

Was I wrong for being a narc or do CM's want to hear about things like this?

I don't want to be an SG for narcing out the entitled ones...lol

HOORAY!!! this kind of behavior really makes me angry  ...i don't know why people think they can just cut into a line like that...there's no excuse for such bad manners...it shows what they've learned at home...in the case of the man with his son, well, he's passing it on to a 2nd generation...how sad is that? :(

You are not an SG for ratting out people. They need to be stopped or soon there would be many people just plowing forward to get to the head of the line. You did a good job.

the only downside to ratting people out is the revenge they might take if they know who ratted them out. i'm all for making sure people do what they are supposed to do and not take advantage. but the mere fact that they could be a little pyscho, is enough to hold back. i think line cutters should be ejected from the park.

Good job! Hubby did that at DL in the Peter Pan queue,(we all know how long THAT wait is). We were in line and we always take notice of who is in front of us and behind. I was conversing with the woman behind us when I heard Hubby say "Go back to the end of the line!" I turned and there were two teen girls who had jumped line right in front of him and he called them out on it. They said , "Oh no we were here", and hubby said, I KNOW who was here and it wasn't you, now get to the back of line before I talk to a CM. They whined that they were trying to catch up with their freinds furthur up in line (Riiiiight!), but backed down and later as the line wound around we could see them way back at the end of the line. Neither hubby nor I ever have a problem telling line cutters to get out, or if we sense there may be agressive behavior we get a CM. Those lines are long and everyone has to stand the same amount of time if they want to enjoy the attraction. Unless you are of course disabled and must enter from that queue.

Well, IC, I wasn't sure, based on some of your posts if I would like you. Now I have decided I do. You have won me over, and I feel like we're brothers with different mothers.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I'm all vaklempt now...

My favorite marsupial n me..."we're cousins...identical cousins...we walk alike, we talk alike, we talk on cell phones while driving busses alike (to the tune of the Patty Duke show)

sorry about being so abrasive in some posts. I just get pissy when I am sitting back as a guest, and i can see with my own eyes the abuses by SG. And if someone insults CM's...well, I tend to get quite pissy. You should be happy that I just got an AP at DL rather than WDW so I will be bothering them for a few months, lol! Seriously though, I am a psychology major and can't fathom the amount of control you guys have. I was at aikido last night (after coming back from a weekend at DL) and if you are familiar with Aikido, it teaches relaxation and calmness. There is no aggression or instigation. Since Disney is the most relaxing place on earth for me, I asked the instructor if it was ok for me to "take down" line cutters and of course he said "only if they come at you, then take their Ki, don't take them down". blah blah blah
To make a long story short, i'm not afraid if they are crazy. lol.

And I'm not afraid to stick up for the CM's.

True story: we took a 16 night cruise to hawaii in May. We had a balcony, yada yada yada. It didn't compare to even one weekend we spend at Disneyland. We love DL, the people there, and everything about the park. We don't have to ride anything and we still have a blast.

It's just being there with all of you

We used to go to WDW every year, but the dis has turned me off to going there. My hubby says that they aren't the representative group of people we would see, but I have definitely seen more aggression, entitlement, and just rudeness at WDW last august than I have in 3 trips to DL since.

I think August is just a bad time of year... the whole summer, actually. It brings out the worst in people. I'll work here in the summer, but I would never come on vacation this time of year.
