International College Programme

Post by CharliEm » Mon Jul 09, 2007 10:50 am

Hi there :)

I'm Charli, I'm 18 and will be starting University in September.

I've always loved Disney (I've been going to Disney, Paris for as long as I can remember!), and would love to be part of the College Programme.

I was wondering if anybody has any information about it? Such as what it's like, what options would be available to me, that kind of thing.

Also, how much choice would I get about when I go? I'd prefer to finish uni, spend a month at home, spend 2 months in Disney (WDW by the way) and then another at home before starting back at uni.

Thanks for your time :)

Charli

Sorry Charlie, but you don't qualify. The College Program is only available to US residents.

What you want to learn about is the *International Program*, which you do qualify for. It works a bit differently.

In the IP, you sign on for a year. They'll try to place you at a compatible location -- in your case the UK pavilion at Epcot -- but you could end up almost anywhere.

That's the sum total of my knowledge about it. I hope someone else here can fill in more details.

Hi thanks for the reply :)

But now I'm confused! On this site http://www.disney.go.com/DisneyCareers/ ... ml#college

I found this which is available to International Students -

Summer Work Program

Participants in this program will work at the Walt Disney World Resort on a J-1 summer/work travel visa during their summer break from school. Participants must be currently enrolled in school and must return to school for at least one term following this program. The J-1 Summer Work Program is a 2-4 month program.

I'm not saying you don't know what you're talking about, I'm just confused now!!

Okay, then *I'll* say it. "I don't know what I'm talking about."

If there's one thing that's a constant at Disney, it's change. Looks like this is another new program I've never heard of. Sorry for the misdirection.

That said, this could be better for you than a full year program. OTOH, there may be less chance you'll get trained somewhere interesting, as the cost/benefit of extended training is taken into consideration.

But as I said when I was first hired in as a Park Greeter (turnstiles), "I can do *anything* for six months!"

*Churchy puts Zazu's ruffled feathers back into place*

It is actually part of the International College Program. It is a section for summer employment and a bit late this year probably. J-1 Summer Work Program is J-1 for the type of visa need. Normally the ICP is a year long program where foreigners come to America, Work at WDW and attend an American University. The Summer Work Program is for only a short period of time. It looks like Zazu was right as the program you want is run by ICP.

I did some googling and try these links:
