From Magical Mountain news:
Disneyland Adds 8th Day To Week
In the spirit of Walt Disney's renowned ability to create magic, the Disneyland Resort is sprinkling some pixie dust on the calendar and virtually creating an "8th Day" in its operating week in anticipation of high demand for the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage attraction, which resurfaces June 11 in the Tomorrowland Lagoon. The subs return as part of the ongoing Year of a Million Dreams celebration at the Disneyland Resort.
Starting June 11, the day the subs resurface, guests will be allowed to join the queue until official park closing and the subs will continue their voyages to find Nemo for up to 2 1/2 hours after park closing.
"We're very excited to bring back the classic subs attraction, which we know will appeal to guests of all ages," said Ed Grier, President, Disneyland Resort. "In order to meet what we believe will be very high demand, we're virtually adding an ‘8th day' to the week."
The magic continues with a focus on Disney-style service. While guests are anticipating their underwater adventure, they'll be invited to "Find Nemo" while voyaging through the queue. Armed with a special Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage activity guide, they will search out "Hidden Nemos" along the way and play other Nemo-related games.
And when the hunger for the adventure becomes too much, fun Nemo-themed food creations, such as a snack pack with cheddar fish crackers mixed with an "East Australian Crunch," popcorn buckets, cupcakes, frozen apple juice and more, will be available for purchase in ports along the way and throughout Tomorrowland.
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage takes its inspiration from two over-the-top entertainment experiences – the worldwide smash hit Disney·Pixar motion picture Finding Nemo and the Resort's fondly remembered classic Submarine Voyage attraction that opened in 1959 and retired in 1998.
During the summer months, on average, Disneyland Park operates 16 hours per day. With 2 1/2 additional hours of potential operation each night (17 1/2 hours total per week) for the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Disneyland is offering guests more than an extra day each week to enjoy the attraction.
Highlighted this summer by the Grand Opening of the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, the Year of a Million Dreams celebration at Disneyland Resort features a full lineup of immersive character encounters and other "Dream-Come-True" experiences. There are opportunities for guests to meet and play with Disney Princesses at Disney Princess Fantasy Faire, join a band of pirates at Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, duel with Darth Vader at Jedi Training Academy, or show some school spirit in the High School Musical Pep Rally.

Eight days a week?
I know the ride capacity is low for what is sure to be a highly-in-demand E-ticket, so they had to do something, but I'm curious what this will mean for staffing and maintenance:

This is only my opinion and probably is wrong, lol.
The park will run a normal scedule except where noted. The entire park will close as normal and security will sweep the park and shut down the whole park as normal. There will be set up security and regular CM's as well as possible barriers to keep people in the area of of Nemo.
I would put between the Matterhorn and the Lagoon a barricade and security to stop people that direction. Security at the hat shop next to the Autopia to keep guests from going into the trains as you will need a bathroom open. From Innoventions to Club Buzz another barricade. This would leave people an path to Main Street. There you have security to keep people heading to the exits. Probably the same as they have done before with special events.
It would not affect anything except the need for more CMs for crowd control and security. I would leave the Emporium open an extra hour and maybe if the crowds are really bad Casey's or Buzz Club. I would at least have vendors selling toys, warm clothes on nippy nights, sodas, and snacks. Milk them tourists of all they have got in their wallets. What parent can deny a kid a Nemo plushie when the parent is going to be in line for 2 hours, lol.
Every time I have been in parks where only one section is open then the rest of the park is run as normal and closes as normal.

Don’t you love it when someone with no skin in the game steps right up and volunteers you?

So, why should you be any different. :)
I worked last night until 4am and tonight was extended from 11pm to 3:30am. Working until 4am Sunday night.
No sympathy from me. :D:

I meant that if the park closed at 10 pm then keep the emporium open until 11 pm. That was from a businessman's point of view. Personally I would close everything 5 hours early and paid everyone double for those 5 hours.
It is a stupid management trick as they do not have to stand in the cold air dealing with cranky and tired guests. They do not have to stand on their feet while dealling with stupid guests.
If they stay open an extra 2.5 hours there will be big time whining about the monorail and train being closed which means the mile hike to the front gate and then to the hotels. Will this mean that stroller and wheelchair rental area has to be kept open another 2.5 hours? Does this mean the kennels will have to be open another 2.5 hours? Does this mean that the trams will be running for another 2.5 hours?
I see it not affecting most areas but for areas that people go to as they leave the park will be affected. Who wants to stand in line for 2 hours then walk the mile or more to the hotels or their car.

Norm The Plum?!?! Busted!! I've been trying to drop some weight but with the trade winds killing my bike riding, lobster night and a string of parties that had good food I'm not doing very well.Main Streeter wrote:Could you be my nom de plum?

I'm just not feeling the sympathy, either. I am working six days a week, usually from about 15:00 or 17:00 to 03:30. That makes for a long night, as I wind up getting home about 05:00.
And hobie, I agree about the quick wit. It's always entertaining to see a thread, read the first three posts, then scroll down a bit further and there's something so off-the-wall-yet fitting, and it's always from you.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
