Really, do the Monorails really look like the parking trams?

Post by Driver_dylan » Wed May 09, 2007 2:43 am

Being a monorail driver I am usually prepared for most of the stupid guests that I encounter, but the there are many times that I just have to ring my hands. Like the times guests will ask with a streight face if the monorail goes to goofy 21 or minie 15 or some such bullshit. I mean really, are these people so stupid that they can't tell the difference between a six car train that rides a cement beamway six to fifty feet above the ground; and a parking tram that rides in the area inside the parking lot.

Oh and while we're at it. There is no monorail to or from MGM, or Animal Kingdom and the express monorail does not stop at the contemporery or the Grand Floidian.

VISA. It's everywhere you want to be, and a lot of places you don't.

I often tell people that the Monorail can "drop" them off at their cars, and I will often tell them how the monorail used to run to MGM but the sand couldn't hold it up and it eventually just disappeared. In fact, we used to have 17 trains.

With AK, though, we learned our lesson and didn't build one there, because we figured we'd hit too many giraffe heads, and eventually the elephants would just knock the supports over anyway.

Oh, and the fact the MGM bus doesn't go to Downtown Disney just floors some people.

Bad Wallaby, you know anything you say as a CM and sometimes as a guest will be used in a board and by guests as the honest to goodness truth. Sigh, when will you learn? I remember guests believing me when I told them that the christmas tree in Disneyland was made of various stuff like sawdust, cement or whatever came to mind. I did always add that they pine scented the tree, lol. The guests will believe your most ludicrous stories but the real one like safety warnings go unheeded.

Disneyland had trees near the monorail and people would get real close to open windows then bonk splat ouch. I got tired of warning people. The do not listen to warnings just fairy tales, lol.

You should tell guests if they upgraded their ground transporation from the airport they could have been picked up in the monorail. Or around 3am they let you guys take the monorail out to get taco's for the CM's who work nights.

I heard a story where a guest yelled at the Monorail CM because he wouldn't let her on the monorail because she parked in DTD!!! She blamed him that he was going to make her pay for parking if he didn't let her one. One problem though: THE MONORAIL WAS CLOSED!!!!

it is a lot of fun and I have done it but what about the poor CM who has to hear crap like "But the dude at the monorail said we could take it to Fantasyland" *I heard that recently they were making the monorails go underground so that the pilots do not have to use windshield wipers" "I am suing you if you do not take me to Dumbo parking RIGHT NOW!!!"

Yes, ma'am.

Naw, when I say the monorail can drop you off, I make sure they know the first step is a doozie. And they have to pay the pilot extra for the task of getting out of the cab away from the station to open the doors.

Actually, I keep on pulling their legs until they realize I am lying, then I give them the real facts. All have gone away laughing so far. It's all in the presentation.

Last week I had two different people (within about two minutes of each other) ask me if the parking tram from AK went to the other parks. (I guess I look like a very knowledgable guest.) I should have told them they would have to get off at Hippopotomus 98 to catch the monorail...

I want a guest to demand to take them to the parking lot. So, the monorail takes them there and back and the CM reply, "You said to take you there, you said nothing about dropping you off there!"
