More annoying: The parents or their children?

Post by Pinoy_Stitch_84 » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:38 pm

I think the parents are more annoying than their children especially when it comes to checking height at the attraction. The child doesn't mind if I double check his/her height (it's a SAFETY requirement), but I've had parents roll their eyes at me and get mad for wanting to check the kid's height. Obviously, they don't care about their child's safety. If they did, then they wouldn't have all these problems with the safety procedures we do. Honestly, the PARENTS who visit Disney World are as stupid as the children they raise.

It disgusts me when parents spike their kid's hair up or make them use high heels to make them taller. It disgusts me when parents change their baby's diaper on a bench inside the attraction's waiting area. Ever heard of a bathroom, stupid? Also those parents that eat or drink in the attractions when there are signs that say NO FOOD OR DRINK BEYOND THIS POINT.

What ultimately disgusts me about parents is how they yell and bitch at me if the kid is too short to ride. What do you want me to do? I know they've waited in line for a while, but they SHOULD measure the child before coming in an be aware of the height requirements.

IT'S SO HARD TO FIND PARENTS WHO CARE AT DISNEY WORLD.

I have seen things to back this up so many times on various Disney cruises. Mr. Syndrome and I will be in the hot tub by the adult pool, which is ringed with a virtual forest of "Adults 18 and Over Only Please" signs. Mom and Dad arrive with Junior in tow and direct him into the pool. Junior protests, "But the signs say adults only," and Mr. & Mrs. Itsallaboutme reassure him, "No, dear, it's okay. This pool is soooo much less crowded than that nasty Goofy pool. You'll have a lot more fun here." The kid tries again halfheartedly, but the parents assure him that he is special and above anything as base and profane as rules. When a CM asks them to leave, the parents proceed to rip him a new one as the kid cringes in embarrassment.

Sad thing is, the kid probably eventually becomes immune to the embarrassment, then makes the leap to his own entitlement attitude...and the Great Circle of Rudeness goes on.

Parents for sure! I was hanging out with a friend who was working a P&P Party rope for the fireworks by the storytime garden. THis guy comes up with his daughter dressed as Belle to him and demands ot know why they haven't been able to see Belle all night (this was at 9:20pm). He rants about how he's been everywhere and has been denied Belle "I went to toontown, they said she had a previous engagement, went to another place, they said she wasnt there, sent me to toontown again, etc. When is belle getting here?" he replied 10:10, the next show, to which the man replied "How is it that at a princess party for kids the first time they can see belle is at 10:10? Kids are tired!" ...uhh the first show was at 7:30 sir. "Well you better know I am the first in line here and if anyone gets in front of me, you better call security because belle is gonna meat the beast!" His kid started to cry, he blamed it on the CM.

You KNOW that the kid isnt crying because she didnt see belle. she's crying because she has to sit there waiting for an hour, missing the fireworks and everything because her dad is being an ass to the cast. If belle is your priority, check the times and go see her. Then again, I didn't get a map when I entered the park for the party.

Parents. Especially when they let their kids run wild and after we tell the kids to stop, the parents get mad at us for doing their jobs for them.

Yep, Syndrome, on our Disney Cruise 1/18 - 1/21, all of the adults at Serenity Bay (the adult-only beach at Castaway Cay) were treated to the sight of Mom and her three youngsters (guessing 6, 10, and 12 - 14) playing in the surf. This despite all the signs. And the spiel on the tram to the adults-only beach (they were in flip-flops, so I don't think they walked). We all focused our thoughts on wishing them out of there, and it worked! They left after about 20 minutes. But still, c'mon . . .the rules don't apply to YOU??

These are the same parents, that when it is suggested that they take their kids to the kiddie pool, or kid friendly area, say that they (the kids) are "almost adults."

But they are the same parents that will lie about their 16 year old kid being only 15 (when they would have to pay for him/her as an adult if admission to something designated adults were 16 years of age and over).

Parents are more annoying, hands down. And not just in parks, restaurants too. These parents let their "darling little angels" run around the restaurant, shrieking at the top of their lungs, playing tag under the tables, and throwing their food at unsuspecting diners. Then the parents will get all offended if anyone comes up to them to ask if they would kindly ask their kids to shut the hell up. One patron at a restaurant I was eating at got so fed up with those demonic children that after asking the parents if they could control their kids, she purposely tripped one of them when they got near her table. Now, that wasn't exactly the best way to handle things, but the parents got the message and kept their kids close by while giving the patron the evil eye.

GOOD FOR THEM! Parents should be examples to their children, but apparently NOT at Disney World. I'm at the point where I mumbled "Stupid" or "Jackass" or something along those lines whenever parents do those stupid things we're discussing on this board. What's worse are those parents that DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH. Their children have to do all the translating for them and most of the time, the kids don't know how to translate 'cause they don't understand. I've threatened to call security on several ocassions and I'll continue to do that if the problem persists. I certainly don't want to get terminated because of the jackasses who call themselves parents.

LEARN THE RULES, LEARN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, LEARN MANNERS YOU IRRESPONSIBLE, IDIOTIC, AND INCONSIDERATE PARENTS. :p:

All of you are so right on! I have been lurking here at this site for sometime and love everything that you all say. I am a regular WDW visitor (been there over 60 times) and I can't get enough. I also have been a teacher for over 30 years and have seen everything you have been discussing.
On our last Disney Cruise, I was cussed out by a parent for reporting his child to a cast member for being in the adults only pool. Ruined my whole trip!
In the parks and resorts, the kids run wild because their parents are too lazy or too stupid to do anything with them. The parents believe that they are their children are above the law and the rules of common sense and courtesy.
I empathize and sympathise with you cast members for having to deal with this problem every day with so many people. However, keep up the good work that you do. My wife and I appreciate the magic that you create for us. In return, we try to be the best guests that we can for you. Thanks for your hard work.

Don't let morons ruin your trip. Not only would I not hesitate to report a brat in the adult pool to a CM, but I usually just tell 'em to get the heck out myself first. God help a Darwin Parent who would dare to try to cuss me out! My icy response would be: "You are obviously both rude and illiterate, and I don't waste my time talking to people like that, so any further words you have will have less importance or meaning to me than the buzzing of a bee." Then I turn away and imagine myself made of Teflon and immune to their assininity. I refuse to give people like that any power over me, and particularly not the power to ruin my day!
