I was in the back office and couldn't help but overhear as a manager reviewed their voicemail on speakerphone. It was a prior guest's travel agent calling to remind us that he had checked out two days early, and wanted the amount paid for those extra days credited to his Visa card. So far, a not unreasonable request.
But as we were listening to the voicemail, the manager called up the guest's account to look at the itemized bill and notes. It seems his last night with us he paid for over $200 in drinks at the bar. His early departure the next morning was something the hotel had insisted on, and there was a charge of $1000 for breakage.
Related? Gee, you think?
Think he's going to get his two night's deposit back?
