Don't let murderers profit! Important non Disney!!!!!
Anyone who has been following the news knows that O.J. Simpson is publishing a book called If I Did It. That great paragon of American popular culture, the Fox Network, is broadcasting an interview of Simpson by the book's editor Judith Regan who is now suddenly claiming to be a victim of domestic violence herself after having had many years in the public eye to broach the subject. I suppose it's not convenient to out one's self until there is a profit to be made.
Regardless of my (or anyone else's) belief in Simpson's guilt or innocence, the fact is that the author, publisher and network are profiting off of the gruesome, horrid deaths of two human beings. This is morally wrong. Simpson has been found liable in a civil trial, but the Goldman family, as well as Nichole Brown's heirs have yet to be paid any meaningful restitution by Simpson.
This man has made a joke out of the judgment, while spending a bit too much time on golf courses and signing (for pay) memorabilia at sport collector's conventions rather than "look[ing] for the real killer."
Celebrity seems to have trumped common sense and moral outrage, so I urge those of you my online friends to discourage others from buying this book. (I know you would not lower yourselves to buying such garbage, but if there is anyone in your orbit who might - please - talk some sense into them).
The book contains no factual confession - this is per published reports in legitimate newspapers - the murder itself is dealt with hypothetically, and of course, with the double-jeopardy prescription of American law, Simpson could never be prosecuted again, even if he were to make an honest confession. Do not allow Simpson to manipulate perception that he is indeed confessing into allowing him to profit from Ron and Nicole's brutal deaths! This man should be shamed and shunned. Not brought back into the spotlight.
If someone you know feels they MUST read this, encourage them to simply sit down in the bookstore and read it there. Don't pay. Read it at the public library. Don't pay. Take digital pictures of the most pertinent pages and post them online. Don't pay. Do not encourage any more shameless grandstanding by this arrogant brute.
I claim no connection to this case or these people. I only wish to see right done morally by Nicole and Ron. On behalf of the Goldman family, please go to:

I know I've made O.J. jokes in the past, both with guests and elsewhere, but this is serious. Feel free to copy this and post elsewhere - on your My Space or other forums. This man should not be allowed to profit from what amounted to a slaugher.

I completely agree. I signed it a few days ago. The publisher should be ashamed of herself.
It wouldn't bother me so much if OJ was actually confessing to the murders and not getting any money. But the fact that he wants to put out this silly little hypothetical book and get paid for it?
That man is going to burn in hell.

There's NO WAY IN HELL I'd ever read this book. The #1 thing that pisses me off is that the jury AND prosecuters forgot is that leather "shrinks" when it gets wet, then dries out. Unless I missed something during the trial.

Thank You BirdMom for posting this important topic. I was stunned & sickened when first hearing of simpson's book. Have little knowledge of Judith Regan, but why the hell Rupert Murdock feels the need to air this horrid tragedy makes me take another look at Fox News & his agenda. Murdock only became a naturalized U S citizen so he could own network media. Regan & Murdock are pushing the book & ugly sensationalism on air & in every tabloid rag Murdock owns. While every other network + 3 fine anchors refused to deal with simpson Fox seems intent on profiting at every level. May all 3 above scum bags rot for eternity! I live a few miles from the Brown Family. My heart breaks whenever I see them shopping, lunching, or at AAA. The incredible saddness has forever been etched into their faces. This new book was not needed by any in our culture!

During the Eagles tour two years ago, Don Henley "dedicated" 'Dirty Laundry' to Rupert Murdock. :hysteria:Main Streeter wrote:Thank You BirdMom for posting this important topic. Looks like some Fox affiliates have seen the light and are not going to air the OJ interview.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Yes, Hobie, you are right!
Fox has pulled the interview off the air, and the Murdoch controlled publisher will now NOT be publishing the book. Thanks to everyone who signed the online petition as well as contacting the pertinent businesses involved with this ugly episode.
My faith in humanity is restored - if enough people call for business to do right, it is indeed done. Thanks again!

Looks like ol' Rupert looked at the one time income he'd get from the book and show, and balanced it with the long-term loss of revenue with sponsors bailing and voted with his checkbook. When all else fails, hit 'em hard in the wallet.
It does appear that OJ got paid $3.5 mil. Rat bastard!
The best part was Bill O'Rielly and Geraldo Rivera both adamantly coming out against the book and show. Of course, they both may have been trying to reestablish their street cred.

I read a rumor that O'Rielly told Murdock that he would walk if Murdock went ahead with the publishing/show. *shrugshobie16 wrote:Looks like ol' Rupert looked at the one time income he'd get from the book and show, and balanced it with the long-term loss of revenue with sponsors bailing and voted with his checkbook.
