A Question....
A Question....
This afternoon, one of my guests, said that the Carnation Cafe, used to be where the Blue Ribbon Bakery is, dating back to 1982... Can anyone verify this? Thank you.... I was just wondering if it is true.

Re: A Question....
On Main street at the intersection there was the Carnation Cafe. It was where the bakery is now. I will post later more info and pictures and stuff but it once was indoors if I remember right, then became outdoors. You could get sandwiches and tons of calories in the form of ice cream like the Matterhorn. We are talking like 5 scoop sundaes. It was a sit down diner and not a counter service like the Bakery.
i am sorry but will have to double post as I have too many windows open.

BINGO
Carnation Ice Cream Parlor
this article shows the menu when it closed and an indoor restaurant. MEMORIES HURTING BRAIN, lol. There was a bar on the right and those cute wire seats with striped seats and marble top tables.

It was a fun and took a couple hours but I finally found a picture of West Street when it was a real street. There is an online story by the guy who made the truck which is supposed to be based on a 1931 truck.
West Street before the street was turned into an outdoor cafe.
An early Carnation in Disneyland menu.
That whole block has under gone many changes in the past 50 years.
It was in this order basically. Carnation, Sunkist Citrus House, Penny Arcade and Coke Refreshment Corner. In Adventureland, the Bengal Barbecue replaced “Sunkist, I Presume” in 1990 and that was the end of Sunkist and Disneyland.
For many years the area where the restaurant is now located there was a street. The Sunkist Citrus House was where the former Puffin Bakery was from July 18, 1955 to June 3, 1960. Puffin Bake Shop was next door to the Penny Arcade. As shown there was the Sunny View Farms, Inc. shop that sold jellies and jams. These were taken over by Sunkist.
Sunkist Citrus House information from Yesterdayland.

OOPS, it is Coke Refreshment Corner. I get east and west mixed up, sorry.

.....ahhh, the Matterhorn.....I'm gaining pounds just thinking about all the ones I scarffed down in my youth.

The violentest place on earth!
Re: A Question....
Churchy, I was able to access the first, fourth and fifth links, but the second and third ones came up "Forbidden". Aside from reminding me of this kid who was watching the movie "Beauty and the Beast', and the scene is when Belle asks Beast why she can't go to the west tower of the castle, he tells her "Because it is forbidden!", and the kid asks his dad, "Who's this Bidden guy?", why would I get barred from viewing something that isn't nasty? I wonder if they still have the old wall phone where you can hear an old-fashioned party line phone conversation?
