Guest who earn a one way ticket to hell
Today I heard a guest say somethin so reprehensable, so horible, and so offensive, that I am still in shock. I shall begin at the begining. During the first show at LMA, at the studios. I came across a family with give kids the world as they came down the line to me at the coverd que position. The two children in this party were both in a double stroller. One of the girls was fine, but the other, was sevearly deformed and on a ventilater. WHile I loaded them into the elevator. I started playing around with the little girl makeing her smile. (I have a soft spot for Give Kids the World kids and will do anything to make them smile.) After sending them On their way, I continued doing my job untill the unload. That is where things went down hill.
After the show was over and most of the wheelchairs had been let off of the elevator, this family comes down again. So, seeing as I was not busy and that the parents didn't mind I starting asking the girl (named Robin by the way) how she liked the show. During this exchange, a woman took it upon herself to cross under a rope blocking guests from crossing in front of the elevator to say the following: "I don't think it's fair that I was told that I couldn't bring my stroller in even though my child was sleeping, and they get to bring their stroller in just cause their child is hidiously deformed." My jaw dropped and the only thing I could say was that I was sorry to Robin. I just couldn't believe what I heard.
If I were running things, this woman would have just earned a one way ticket to hell. I don't care if she cures cancer after today. there is no redemption for calling a child that is terminally ill that she is hidiously deformed.
I was however wondering if any of you out there have had any simmilar experiances.

VISA. It's everywhere you want to be, and a lot of places you don't.

OMG. I am so sorry you had to meet that woman. Clearly she is lacking in the compassion gene. Let's all hope her child(ren) got that gene from their father.
People suck. As a race we cannot see past our noses. Everyone has a day like that, a bad day when they are more concerned with themselves that others. Thankfully, most of us know enough to stay in bed and not leave the house until we are better.
Gosh, that is horrible. She is lucky I was not that child's mother, because I would have let her know just what I thought of HER! (Out of earshot of MY precious child.)

I would have earned a one way out of the park for what I am thinking would have done to that lady.
i am so sorry you had to be exposed to that kind of treatment and by such a callous hearted witch.

Dear God in heaven...
Could she not see that the child was disabled also? And if she was really that concerned about it, she could have made a complaint to City Hall instead of telling you. What would you be able to do about it?
Most people would do their very best to be kind to a little girl with such an awful condition. But she did the exact opposite! That is one sick, sick woman. I'm glad I don't know her.

You stand up. You smile at the woman sweetly and say...
"I'm sorry, this child is actually with Give Kids the World, you know, for kids that are terminally ill? How fortunate you are that your child is only sleeping...."
Not only does the ignoramus get the message, the parents of the child will love you for forever.
Funny story-had the chance to help out a young adult who happened to be 38 inches tall. Teenagers would walk up to us and ask if he was real. He would look right back at them and say...
"Not only am I real, I can hear you too, my name is Josh, what's yours?"
That ended it.
Hang in there, Karma gets them in the end...

Oh to get ahold of that self serving idiot and take them to children's ICU or a similar setting. Have her work a shift taking care of those beautiful children will for sure open her squinty eyes. This is why I am seriously concerned for my kids future. Knowing that morons like that can breed and pass on their extreme ignorance scares even me. I HAVE experienced that firsthand, though. There is a thread here somewhere about it. But anyway, my son is autistic. He is functional but he still has some issues. I have received that BS too because you know only people in wheelchairs are disabled.(<~~I was actually told this by some bitch at Disneyland when we used the Pirates SAP.) Ugh, it aggravates me to no end. I almost came to blows with that one. I am sorry that you couldn't speak your mind but Notatourist is so right. Karma is an awesome goddess who will kick your ass eventually. :p:

You are a hero to us all for the patience and strength which must be required on a daily basis. I've had no first-hand experience with this, but you have my respect and admiration (which is worth more than sympathy any day of the week). By the way, I like the quote about karma. Is that yours? Can I borrow it?LittleDollClaudia wrote:I have received that BS too because you know only people in wheelchairs are disabled.(<~~I was actually told this by some bitch at Disneyland when we used the Pirates SAP.) I'm sorry but stupid, stupid morons like that woman deserve to have some chew them a new rear end for saying such a horrible thing. When I meet a child like that one I find that they are some of the neatest people around next to the parents who take care of them.LittleDollClaudia wrote:I am sorry that you couldn't speak your mind.... :p:
"Where did I park? You work here and you don't know where I parked?!"
"Nope, sorry. I forgot to memorize all 15,000 cars' spots as they drove in today." :p:

It is sad and unfortunately we expience that kind of stuff every day over at Lights Motors Action. the guest when they get to us are usually ticked off for some reason or another and we get screamed at and treated like crap all day. it is really sad when the abuse is passed on to another guest though. You did the right thing Driver and I slap your shoulders for that.

Unfortunately, I had a similar situation at the Anaheim Haunted Mansion. It was during Happy Hearts week, and I was on Load 2, escorting a group back to the ER. Some of the kids were in wheelies, but one of the ambulatory kids had that disease that was featured in the movie "Mask." It's pretty dark, but some idiot says out loud that people "like that" shouldn't be allowed out. I didn't see who said it, and all I could do was glare at the queue and apologize to the guests once I got them to the E.R. More unfortunate, I think they were used to it.
We see it every day - not just at the parks - people are jerks.
