Remain Seated Please! (Sit down, you idiots!)

Post by Canoe30x » Thu Aug 10, 2006 3:42 pm

I got a chance to go to disneyland last week, and I really had a blast. But I was so shocked at this incident I just had to write about it. I was going on Thunder Mountain, and behind me in the car there were these three college age guys, complete with longish hair, baggy pants, and an attitude. They spent the first third of the ride chanting "Oakland! Oakland!" which was getting on everyone else's nerves. But then, near the middle of the ride somewhere, they decided to Stand Up!!!!!

Now, they were behind me, and so I'm not entirely sure how they managed to do that, but they really did stand up, and immediately over the loud speakers we hear "REMAIN SEATED PLEASE!" They did sit down, only to stand up a minute later, and hear the same thing again. Idiots! Once they got off the ride, the CM there told them that in the future they need to remain seating throughout the entire side, they replied with "whatever" and "You oughta have checked our lap bar better" (I couldn't hold my tongue, and mentioned that a guy did that once on the matterhorn, and died.)

And you know what, I live right next to Oakland, and yeh, they are a very accurate sample of the people there. ;)

It's a shame it's not a round ride. Those you can stop easily, go out and give folks a talking to in front of everyone else, and then just throw off with even more public spectacle if they don't listen. :D

As for Oakland and Raiders fans... I used to work at Paramount's Great America. Nuff said.

Yep, I agree about the majority of people in Oakland. And I got reprimanded by other members in another thread for being afraid to go there. Ghetto people suck. They ruin the attractions for everyone else.

I was at DLR just this past weekend, and while walking out of Indy, there were about 4-6 boys walking behind my group that kept wolf whistling. It was high-pitched, incredibly annoying, and disrespectful. Why can't ghetto people be thrown out of the park for ruining other people's time? I spend too much money to see the dregs of society ruining my vacation.

They cannot be thrown out of the parks for the same reason that other people cannot be thrown out of parks. Please understand that your post is prejudiced and fails to understand that those boys would be annoying ill mannered brats if they were white, black or hispanic. Ghetto, barrio, trailer trash are not very nice terms and the bad people in life come in all color, races, religions, walks of life, etc.

I'm sorry if my post sounded prejudiced, but please note that I did not make any mention of the boys' race in my post. My use of the term ghetto applies to people of all walks and races, and I use it depending on their behavior. If I'm standing in line, and they're wolf whistling and cussing up a storm behind me, they're ghetto, regardless of race.

If you stood in the station of Indiana Jones for more than 10 min you will realize how stupid people are, and how many station stops we have to hit becuase of them standing after the vehicles start to move.

Here's my "Sit down, you idiot" story:

One time, I was at the south advance console, and there was a group of five that wanted the front, even if it meant being split up. So the grouper told 3 of them to go in row one on the first car, and the other 2 to go in row one of the second car.

The first three get in. One goes all the way down to the last seat, and then the other two sit in the driver's seat and seat next to it, leaving the third seat empty. We dispatch the car, and the girl in the 4th seat stands up and moves to the empty third seat. A station stop was hit and the guest was told to sit down.

Next two get into the next car and move all the way down. Leaving the driver's seat and seat next to it empty. Again, the car is dispatched and the person in the the fourth seat gets up and moves to another seat. The person who moved was the girls father. Another station stop was hit, and the guest was spieled to. Immediately after that, I called the person at south load and said, "It's genetic," to which she couldn't herself stop from laughing.

Standing up on Indy when there's no really clear indication that the car is going to move forward is NOTHING compared to the tens of idiots every day who decide to slip around barriers and start climbing in dark ride cars behind the load position. Sometimes it's kids whose irresponsible parents don't hold them back due to excitement and not knowing better at age 4, and sometimes it's people >60 who have years of common sense. I don't know what it is, but for some reason elderly asian people (as in, still speaking Japanese/Korean/Chinese with their family) are our most infamous demographic. Something to do with some old cultural value or practice with moving vehicles right of way I guess. Every time a large family shows up with grandma from the old country that station stop is already under pressure before they get to the line. Anyways, so far the most people I've seen at once try and get into vehicles PAST the big yellow line and barrier is 9. 9 people in 3 cars behind the one at dispatch. That's one car short of the second unload spot. That's the FULL length of the station pretty much, and as soon as ONE of them was past the loading car the station stop, loud blaring alarm and CM yelling started. That means 8 people ignored the waving arms, shouts of NO NOT THAT WAY PLEASE, STOP! and blaring alarms, as well as everything the people right in front of them for the last 5 minutes did.

Now just try and tell me standing up in the Indy station is stupider than that.

And once I had some foreign family of 7 or so who did the ignore-grouping-and-then-walk-past-the-gate-into-the-car-behind deal, then got things right after the bleeping alarms and my frantic gesture hassling, and broke the ride down due to the extra long station stop and backup. THEN, get this... guess what they did exactly again as soon as we came back up and it was their turn to re-load? :oweye: BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP... "No not that way again!" *frantic waving*

Yeah... people are just stupid I guess... I know what you mean about the difficult asian parties though. They usually come in HUGE groups...

I was grouping at Indy, and asked them how many. They chit chatted a while amongst themselves to come to a decision of what to tell me. They replied with "8." So, I told them, "Four in row one, and four in row two."

Suddenly, an oversized mash of people whiz by me and are crowding around in the station. It turned out they really had a group of 24. The last time I checked, 8, with very few exceptions, isn’t 24.

 <-- The look on my face.

Lets review. 8 < 24.

Maybe they were just bad with math and thought they needed 8 rows, lol. Large groups are a hassle at times. At least you do not have to deal with Brazilians, lol.
