Ok, this April was my first spring break in the parks and will be my last. By the end of the two weeks I was convinced the rest of world was empty because everybody, and I mean everybody, was visiting WDW. When the safety topic of the day is "no stampeding" you know it is going to be a bad day.
Although I am sure people with fast passes usually have some false sense of entitlement, spring break made it all the worst. Fast pass holders felt they should be first and gave CM's hell if they even let a handful of Standby guests through before them.
People are getting a lot bolder about cutting in line. They cut in line with any excuse possible. "My wife is up there", some where at the front of the already 90 minute wait standby line. Of course tagging behind him were two teenage children. I do not see any rationale why they couldn't wait their turn in line. Perhaps the mother could have joined them at the end of the line if they really wanted to be together.
I saw more rude guest then ever before. I tried to convince my self that it was because there were so many people who did not speak English and "rude" behavior is an interpretation we make our judgements based on our cultural beliefs. But truthfully I just want to scream. I still have a bruise on the back of my leg from all the strollers used as battering rams. Also, if one more person where to pinch my back side I was going to ruin someones "magical" vacation.
I have to say that among all the "group think" and otherwise rude behavior, I only saw one CM yell at a guest. For the most part the CM's took this all in stride and I want to thank all CM's for keeping the magic alive even if they want to scream. It is not an easy job but you do it with grace. Thanks for not letting anyone see you "sweat".

I usually tell those people "Well, Sir/Madam/Neuter, we have an 80:20 ratio with the Fastpass to Standby lines. You'll go in just a moment... here. Thank you for your patience. By the way, I'll need your ticket, please."blvinmagic wrote:Although I am sure people with fast passes usually have some false sense of entitlement, spring break made it all the worst. My wife is up there.
That's nice. Fastpass ticket, please?
But I'm going up to join her.
Well, you can use the Standby line.
And if I see her I should push my way forward.
Of course not. You should ask her to either wait for you or walk back through the line to you.
That's not fair!
Which is what about 2,000 people will scream if you cut through the line in front of them, sir. Have a magical day.
If'n I were a female, I sure would have... and on the first one, too. You do NOT let ANYONE get away with touching you in an inappropriate manner - you get a manager, security, Orange County... don't matter. If management pooh-poohs it, you go over their heads, too.blvinmagic wrote:Also, if one more person where to pinch my back side I was going to ruin someones "magical" vacation.
We do try. Some days it's harder than others, though.blvinmagic wrote:I have to say that among all the "group think" and otherwise rude behavior, I only saw one CM yell at a guest. I was doing walkdown one morning when I had the guest behind me say "There's more of us than of them... what would happen if we just ran past them?" My reply: "Because we're running the rides, and if you get there before we do you'll just have to wait longer." :D: Had a GSC snicker at that one....darph nader wrote:Sad to say "no stampedeing" 'ALWAYS' refers to everyone else, not THEM.
