Disappointed
After going through all the auditions, training, and soft openings for Animation Academy, today I just had two of the managers tell me that I'm not going to be in the opening crew after all. Apparently, they said, I'm not a good fit, and some of the other CM's have been telling them so.
Hopefully I'll still be able to stay in Innoventions, since that would be a pay increase and, frankly, I don't think I'd have it in me to go back to Attractions.
Needless to say, though, it's pretty disappointing overall and I'm more than a little depressed about it. It feels as though I've just been told, "nobody here likes you, so we're going to get rid of you." That's never a good feeling.

Don't worry about what those other people say! You went out there and tried your best, and your best is all you can give. *pats him on the back* Well, we all like you HERE, and we want you to stay! Just remember that! :D:PirateJohn wrote:Needless to say, though, it's pretty disappointing overall and I'm more than a little depressed about it. Re: Disappointed
Thanks for that. I'm actually watering up hearing that...
It really does hurt, though, since I've had a lot of problems with depression in the past, feeling like I didn't have a place to fit in. When I hired into Disneyland last summer, it felt like I had finally found a place where I could do well and be a part of the team. I liked the people I worked with, and felt like I was really making progress personally.
Now it feels like in just a few minutes, that has all been taken away.

Re: Disappointed
John,
Don't let it get you down. Over the years I've been rejected for moves lateral and up. I was laid off twice. And every time something else came along that was twice as good.
Don't look back. It's a waste of time and energy. Focus on the future and all will be good.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I understand what you're saying.hobie16 wrote:John,

However, it's one thing to be rejected and one thing to be accepted, then kicked out because people there don't like you. It just feels like such a slap in the face.
Re: Disappointed
omg I'm so sorry!!! I just went over there today cause I know two other cm's who transferred over there. I was talking about how I knew you and they were like oh yeah we know him he's a great guy....
So take heart that apparently not everyone thinks you're a bad fit. And they're both trainers there.

Re: Disappointed
PirateJohn, you made it through interviews, auditions, & soft opening. This all takes fortitude as well as talent. Half of us perhaps wouldn't have had your courage! Pls don't feel this is such a minus. Very often opening CMs drop out & CMs who tried out are called back. This happened with Block Party Bash. No one actually said they didn't like you as a CM & you are still a CM. Count this as a huge plus :) Disney uses "not a good fit" often. Never feels good when told this, yet I've found very often Disney can be right & will match you with a great fit. You simply must let them know you really like Innoventions or whatever dept. you want to be in. Managers will usually work with you. Heck, I even had scheduling on my side a few months ago & I never asked them for support. Stay with Disney a little longer if you like the company. Ya never know who casting will need before Christmas or pre spring. I know my words are repetative & hollow but hope you understand we care how you feel. You are liked by SGT members :D: & your posts make me laugh ;)

Re: Disappointed
Dittos on the encouraging words -- hang in there, John!
There is at least one upside to not getting the position... You won't be stuck working with the moron "other CM's" who said bad things about you! They likely would have made your work there a lot less enjoyable.

AGREED!!! Look on the bright side, you're not dead and Disneyland will always be there. You can always go back and try it again! :)BRWombat wrote:There is at least one upside to not getting the position...
