Sad news, somewhat off topic

Post by CBeilby » Mon Jun 27, 2005 3:54 pm

Over the last weekend, we lost two more members of the Disney family.

On Friday, it was rumored among animation enthusiasts, and later confirmed that Paul Winchell, co-inventor of the first Artifical Heart, children's show host and ventriloquist extraordinare, and until 1999, the voice of Tigger (among many, many other characters,) passed away. Within 24 hours, we also lost John Fiedler, who was, until this year's 'Pooh's Heffalump Movie,' the voice of Piglet.

:(

I saw the news about Paul Winchell in the paper - I vaguely remember watching his local t.v. show on channel 11 when I was a little kid - so he was already very familiar to kids when he became the voice of Tigger...

I wonder how William is taking this. For those of you who didn't know him, Whimsical Will from the Dr. Demento Radio show used to work in the park - he was an R.O. and a lead on the West side. As a boy, William was the original voice of Christopher Robin in the Pooh films. Cool guy - very dry sense of humor. If you see this, Will, sorry about your former co-worker - I wouldn't be surprised if he was your friend as well.

I shed two big, bouncy tears when I heard. Great talents, and to all reports great people as well. :( :(

According to IMDB, Fiedler did give voice to Piglet in that film. :o:
