Gay Days At Disneyland
Hi everyone! I am curious to hear some dirt and gossip of what happens on GAY Days at the Resort. I have never worked on the big weekends when this occurs but I'm sure everyone has stories with people who come to the parks and have their say about it! Rest assured, I do know that some APs can be the bitchy queens as well as homophobic jerks, too which make perfect stories. As I am "family", I would NEVER want to go to Disneyland on that particular weekend for several reasons:
1. I wouldn't want other CMs (other than those very close to me) know about me.
2. I would avoid any attempt to K.O. any person who would make disgusting remarks at me or anyone else that day.
If there are stories, please share them

Polar has a great story he might want to share. Something about him having to wear a red shirt a few years ago.My question is: you work at Disneyland why would you care if anyone there knew you were "Family?"
"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"
"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."
"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."

Sadly, there are those who spread rumors about you and try to turn people against you! Sadly, the "family" of Disney Cast Members I once knew has died! :(CujoSR wrote:Polar has a great story he might want to share. Re: Gay Days At Disneyland
Family of CM's "dying" sounds all too sadly familiar. One of my favorite supervisors, (manager's in today's speak) died of AIDS quite awhile back. Such a waste - he was such a good guy, great to work for, easy to be around. Another r.o. friend became debilitated from the disease and had to take a medical retirement - I think he's still alive and hanging in there. People who are just coming into their own in their 20's now don't remember what it was like in the early 80's when it seemed as if all these young gay men were dying - dropping like flies was one metaphor. Half the guys from my high school drama class along with that teacher are dead. I think the thing that's saved one of my cousins is the fact that he's been in a committed relationship with his partner since 1977. They have never whored around behind each other's backs.
The only thing that I remember from the private parties that I worked was a handful of the guests dressing a bit more provacatively, more outrageously than one would expect than usual. Not quite West Hollywood on Halloween, but out there.
There was one "gay night" on Pirates when I halfway expected this woman to ask for my phone number. She kept giving me this intense look, but if I were to swing both ways, she wouldn't be my type. She was actually a little scary - lol - very lean and muscular, and the back of her t-shirt was completely cut away to reveal this enormous eagle tattooed on her back with the wingspan going from shoulder to shoulder. The other thing that I remember about that night was boys in skirts calling each other girls or ladies - which really wasn't all that different from some of the guys I used to know who were dancers in parades...

Re: Gay Days At Disneyland
The only difference I noticed between Gay Day at Pirates and any other day was that it was a hell of a lot more crowded. Other than that, it was just another day to me.
Did get one or two guys saying, "hey, what's with the red shirt?" referring to my red pirate vest, which I always wear. We have the option of wearing a red or orange vest, but even if I had known beforehand that it was Gay Day, I wouldn't have bothered switching colors. It's not that big a deal to me.

No I was think about the time you were at BOH and LittleDollClaudia and I found you in the back and you mentioned you had to go out on stage. I remember you telling me something happened.Polar33 wrote:I think you're thinking of the time Aramis and Brandon went to the park on Gay Day.

Re: Gay Days At Disneyland
I was at steam trains both gay days that have occured since i've been working here. It's really boring, there are virtually not red shirts on the train, and the ones that are there, are either couples, or not my fancy. Someone once asked me why i wasn't running around in red. To start with, i could only wear a partly red shirt, because i'm bi. From what i understand red shirt day can be a meat market, and while I'm not exactly prude, that's not how i wanna meet my new man. And mostly just for the fact that i look terrible in red, except that one hurley shirt that I have...
I do however use princess and other female monocers for family members, I however, will only answer to King or Queen.

Re: Gay Days At Disneyland
Honestly its really no different than any other day. (unless your homophobic) The groups that come out (did I just say that
) that come to the theme parks... are nice and are just out to have a good time.
I will say that I am amazed at the people that hate Disney for letting them do it! Just because it happens at Disney doesn't mean that its sponsered by them.
I did have one funny story...
I was driving the disabled van on the east side (Timon p-lot) and I was picking up a group of women (one of them was in a chair) anyway I wasnt paying much attention to them (other than the Disney way) and once I got everyone loaded in we took off. I was asking the typical questions (where you from what park are you goin to etc.) when this extremely deep vioce came from behind my seat asking when the parade started! Needless to say I was kinda stunned because I didnt realize that any of them were cross-dressers untill that moment. Once we got over to the parkside drop off area and they started to get off I noticed that there were 3 of the 7 that were quite obviously men! It just goes to show that if you dont mind you wont even notice! :D:

Re: Gay Days At Disneyland
I've worked and gone to gay days at WDW every year that I've worked there. I was a little upset this year that I couldn't go with my partner this year, but that happens sometimes. I've always wore a red shirt, and I think that some of the people are quite intresting. Although once I've had a guest arrested one year when he said, while I was working, that he had a gun in his bag and was going to shoot everybody wearing a red shirt. This was when I had loaded him on Space Mountain and I had his train held in dispatch until Orange County Sherrif's Department arrived. That was kinda freaky.
I'm also pissed off about the homophobic people that bitch and moan that a lot of gay people came to the park on one day. I don't "act" gay or anything, but for a guest to say something like that or bitch to a complete stranger pisses me off. Even if I wasn't gay I would not have anything to do with a guest that acts like that. Part of being able to walk away from the guests that I would do if they pissed me off enough.

Re: Gay Days At Disneyland
The ironic part is, if they didn't allow gay people to go into the parks, then there'd be a hell of a lot of CAST MEMBERS who wouldn't be showing up for work every day. Hello - it's Disney people....aka Gay Mecca. You think Disney could function in the hospitality/entertainment industry without "family"? LOL! It would be quite the challenge if you ask me...coldfire409 wrote:I'm also pissed off about the homophobic people that bitch and moan that a lot of gay people came to the park on one day.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with Gay Days at DLR and WDW....my only issue is with the sometime obvious PDAs that you see - but I feel the same way if it were a straight couple too.....this is supposed to be a family place - I wouldn't want to expose children to any kind of public displays of any kind, straight, gay or whatever. Everyone's supposed to be here to have fun and enjoy the parks and let it be a wholesome place for kids to enjoy (in theory).
Ok, I'm getting off me soapbox. LOL!
