Are we crazy to go to DL saturday?
hubby decided to suprise me with a trip to DL for moms day and suggested this saturday 4/7(we can go either this month or july/aug(ill be 8 month preg by then so no way!) at first i was thinking no, but after thinking for awhile(like 2 or 3 hrs) i figured why not? we have done the new years thing, even at the millenium so we know what to expect, we will get park hoppers so we can go to dca for resttime and playhouse disney(2 yr old insists!) i will plan to get there early, would like to make it to fireworks, but will see how we are feeling by then. the amount of rides we go on doesnt really matter to us, not only have we done everything but buzz, but with a 2 yr old and me being preg, cant do a lot anyways. should be a good people watching day! are we crazy?? we will try our best to not only be nice to the cast members but to also help point out the stupid guests when possible and call them on it! havent gotten my SGT pin or shirt yet(want to get a reg sized one for when im no longer huge) but i hope to see some of you there! have a nice weekend, hope it doesnt get too stressful and we will be good, i promise

Re: Are we crazy to go to DL saturday?
Historically, the park is a little slower, little easier to get around on Sundays and Mondays. Quite frankly, I always picked Friday/Saturday as my days off when picking summer schedule, just because I learned it was easier in terms of dealing with big crowds. Either way, for whatever reason, it seems that *slow* people come out on Sundays, so it presents it's own challenges. We used to get entire families coming out on Sundays, including grandparents who had a little trouble getting around - different set of issues dodging the groups, but lower wait times.
Since you have limitations over what you can ride, why pick a day with the highest attendance? You have to remember that the things that appeal to your two-year-old have the lowest capacity, therefore, the lines look the longest - i.e. all the dark rides in Fantasyland. Because of higher capacity, the World line moves pretty fast - same with Pirates. Most little people don't mind the drops on Pirates. I've been on that one with babies in the boat and they haven't wailed.
You might want to consider going on Sunday - call the hotel and see if there are any reservations left for any of the Mother's Day brunches, so that way you can go ride some rides, take a break and have a nice brunch, then go people watch and ride some more rides.

As long as you know what to expect (which it seems you do) you'll still have a good time.

Re: Are we crazy to go to DL saturday?
unfortunately we already have plans for sunday, we promised to take his mom to the indian casino(and i get a real good all you can eat buffet!) we dont mind the crowd, will get there real early and do dark rides first, then play it by ear for the rest of the day. he does like mansion, pirates and small world too. but we will prob end up at playhouse disney a lot! luckily he is still too young to want to go on specific rides(if the line for something is too long, we can skip it no prob) as much as i want to see it, we will prob end up leaving before fireworks, doubt he wil last that long. not too bad since we will be back, are going to get passes sometime after august. when im on maternity leave(sept oct) ill be able to go whatever weekdays i want, woohoo!!

Re: Are we crazy to go to DL saturday?
Due to large numbers of so cal and delux annual passes it isnt uncommon for a sunday to be just as busy as a saturday, especially when saturday is blocked out for all passes but premium yet sunday has just the cheapest cheapest pass blocked. The nice thing about sunday is the crowd leaves early and by 9pm its pretty slow.

I always hate when somebody checks in on a friday and asks "It's gonna be slow this weekend right?" I try and adjust their expectations to a more realistic level, but with some families it just breaks the heart.

Like everyone else said, it'll be busy but you know what you're getting into. About the fireworks though, try really hard to stay that long, they are absolutely amazing. There are a lot of fireworks fired at the castle, so you want to make sure you can see the castle for the best view. Heck there will probably be people sitting there hours beforehand, so if the little one poops out, sit down and people watch while you wait. :)

thank you everyone!(kinda long, sorry)
we had the best time saturday 5/7/05. thank you to everyone, all the CM's we encountered were real nice and cheerful! the park looked so clean and pretty. got there at 8, went straight to fantasy land(a little bummed about the castle being blocked off, but whatever) took max(2 yrs old) on a few rides(dumbo, peter pan, snow white and alice) then headed over to pirates and mansion, then over to buzz, at this point (11:30)we went over to dca to get playhouse disney over with(max loves it, but for parents it isnt as fun as rides, hehehee (a big thank you to the CM who sat with him and held his hand and walked us out at the end- he didnt want to let go, didnt get your name, sorry!!) we then had lunch of PB&J from home and ice cream, soo sorry to see fantasia gone, that was the best ice cream flavor ever! hung out at dca for a bit, went on some rides at flicks fair for the first time, i had heard complaints about rides being short, but they arent any shorter than camp snoopy, and for little kids short attn spans the are perfect - i actually liked them more than camp snoopy. hubby was thrilled to be able to take max on the bumper cars since he is still too little for the ones at knotts. then went to the sun wheel and all max said over and over was WOW! as we were getting off, a custodial was waiting to get on and clean up something, wasnt going to stick around to see that but we werent suprised, the only other time we went on it a few years ago we tried the rocking car and it made us a little woozy and i usually love those kinds of things, only stationary cars for us now! by this time we were ready to go back to DL so we went over but on the way there max fell asleep so we were trying to figure out what to do next. we went to the tikki room and ate dole whips while hanging in the waiting area through a whole show - all i can say is it is about time!! the whole tikki area looks amazing and it is wonderful to see everything working again. we tried to take him in for the next show and he woke up at we were sitting down, he started to fuss a little and i was afraid we would have to leave before it started but then he calmed down and we got to watch the birdies sing some more wows from max) after this the 4:00 parade was starting so too a ride on the mark twain, hubby wont do that again for a long time, since im 5 months preg he was in charge of watching max and he just wanted to run and run all over the boat, hehehee. then pooh and storybook. we then decided to have dinner at plaza inn. after dinner we were tired and so was max for sure(only a 30 min nap all day) so we headed down main street, looked at some of the shops, then headed home(7:30p), we didnt make it for the fireworks, but after we get passes(maybe sept or oct) we will be back a lot and will get to see them then. we had a very nice and relaxing day, like i said earlier, everyone was real super nice, eveything was working nicely, it wasnt as crowded as i thought it would be(woohoo!) I hadnt had time to get my sgt pin/sticker/shirt(hubby decided on a spur of the moment trip last week) so I took a piece of purple duct tape and wrote sgt on it and put it on my hat, not sure if anyone saw it. thank you all again, and a special thank you to custodial!!! every bathroom i went in(at 5 months preg that was a lot) was clean and smelled good!! hope to see you in the fall!!
