Shorty, the call absolutely gave Ernie needed energy & renewed his faith in CMs. You are amazing! He asked me to post this thought to you on SGT site. "The American values are not just what you say, but what you do for America. Thank you for your support Shorty."

In your post you polished & laid every fact out exactly. I've posted & preached often, but have never come close to the perfection of your well crafted words. Must be a southern thang, so I was informed. ;)

First and foremost, Shorty is a patriot, loyal to his country and his flag. He is an amazing young man who has high ideals and strong convictions. I wish we had more dedicated citizens like him.

Thank you both for your compliments. Our freedoms don't come free, they are bought and paid for by the men and women in our armed forces and I understand this fact quite well. The American Flag is not only the symbol of our great nation but also is symbolic of those freedoms. I love this country and cannot express the gratitude I have for the people who fight for our freedoms and the freedoms of people around the world. There is nobody you can trust more to hold our flag than a veteran who fought for it. I wear a Mickey Flag pin on my costume everyday because I love America and want to show it. It is always there, right by my name tag. You insult America or our veterans in front of me and you'll regret it. We are among the greatest nations on Earth because of our veterans fighting, and dying, for the freedoms many people take for granted.

Ernie fought for America in the Marines, he fought Disneyland to allow him to have a proper flag retreat (he says what they had before was not proper), and now he is fighting to continue allowing veterans hold the flag for a few minutes before he takes it backstage. He's not going to give up his fight and he knows he can't do this alone. It's going to take guests writing letters, going to City Hall, etc. to get the apparently unpatriotic managers to change their minds.

May God bless America!

Ernie has not returned from vacation yet, nor has he heard anything from DL regarding Flag Retreat. Wish I had better/interesting updates mapo. Thanks for asking. Letters & Emails would still be appreciated. DL Entertainment Dept. snail & Email addresses are posted on the FB page Kman has worked so hard on. Thank you ktulu for your efforts. :) Please visit http://www.facebook.com In search enter DisneyLand Flag Retreat. You'll find some amazing photos. Plz join the support group! Kman has posted a great pix of Ernie welcoming home another USM at DL this past fall. He has a very interesting story abt the pix, with more details to be added soon. We were sure no decision would be made by management until Ernie returned from vacation. Ernie feels management is relieved he's been gone. Out of sight - out of mind issue. Will do a better job updating. Our SoCal rain & odd rain shifts sidetracked my multi thinking. ;)

Ernie chose to honor an Army Officer with his small daughter at Flag Retreat Monday. This is the first time in five weeks Ernie has given The American Flag to a veteran. Ernie turned proudly, walked to the small child & her Army Father who was saluting during the ceremony. Ernie bent down to the small girl asking father & daughter to hold the folded flag. As God Bless America was sung Ernie knelt on one knee in front of the child & sang to her. This sweet child knew the words as she sang with Ernie. Warm sun framed Ernie & the child as they looked at each other blending their voices. Ernie gave a gentle smile to the little girl & carefully helped her hold the flag. Ernie made Monday's Flag Retreat beautiful, amazing, inspirational, & memorable for those who watched in awe! None at Flag Retreat will forget Ernie & the small girl who sang a love song to America.

If I had known of Ernie's decision to give the flag to father & daughter I would have asked DLR Photo Pass to take pictures of this meaningful ceremony. I was too far away from Photo Pass CM to ask her to capture such magical moments. We have heard nothing from management, yet Ernie is positive there will be repercussions & action taken. DisneyLand denied Ernie the right to honor a family's written wishes their deployed son be remembered at Monday's Flag Retreat. Ernie is now determined more than ever to fight for the brave who give us freedom daily. He is very strong willed & has decided he will continue to give the American Flag to a veteran or military person now serving whenever he chooses. Ernie realizes his decision may lead to termination, yet he will continue the battle & accomplish the mission. http://www.facebook.com DisneyLand Flag Retreat

Ernie is awesome! I'm meeting with someone this weekend regarding the FB Flag Retreat group, so hopefully I'll get to move forward with where the group needs to go!

What a beautiful story! Still cannot fathom why Entertainment person has a trouble with this making of memorable moments. Entertainment being afraid of handing the flag to a lesser-ranked person-RIDICULOUS! Haven't seen anybody determine who was or is what rank at DLR before Flag Retreat. Respect is given to ALL guests there and Flag Retreat is to honor all of those who served, present or not.
I will be very upset to hear of any retaliation, Ernie is so loved by many.
