I have NEVER shared any of the pictures of Prion's last day with anyone...I wanted to share them with you, my friends. It was a very sad day and I remember it like it was yesterday... :(

Orion never lost his grace and spirit! He was king of the house til the end and he will always be in charge, even if by spirit. This is one of the last pictures we took that day. You can see he needs to cross the Rainbow Bridge. He was so sick at the end and it happened so fast. One day he was okay and within 24 hours, it was done. His body was tired and his organs could not do it anymore. He knew. He was ready, more than I was. I never could be ready to let my litle babyboy go.

But he went gracefully and knowing it was his time. I hope I can keep the lessons I learned from this beautiful, graceful and humble creature. He taught me so much in his short lifetime. I look forward to kissing his ears again when my time comes to join him in the many years ahead and whispering "I love you boy!" Only when I say it then, I will never have to leave him again. :)

We have a memorial set up on the mantel of the fireplace in our Master Bedroom. It has pictures and his pawprint and some of his soft, soft fur. I kept some in a box and every once in a while I take it out and rub my cheek with the softness that was Orion in his earth body. I made a sculptured pawprint out of sculpy clay of his paw. I pressed his paw into the clay last April and have the impression of his little foot today with us. And pictures...so many pictures line every wall and bookcase in our house. He is such a huge presence here still and always will be. I only wish all of you, my friends had gotten a chance to meet him and hug him. You would know why I call him our son and why he was one of those cats that reach such immeasurable heights in our lives. He was truly special and one of a kind and I will miss him til the day I join him across the Rainbow Bridge!

For those of you who want to make one for your pet or even your baby or child, you can buy these *Sculpey* kits at a craft store and they have all sorts of colors of sculpey clay and things you can embellish the final mold with. I have not begun to embellish his yet. I have not been able to bring myself to do it. I have many items I want to put on it, and will do it someday, when I am ready.
This is a wonderful way to have a small memory of your loved one. :)

Our memorial in it's early stages...It has so many pictures and items of his now, that it covers the whole mantel. When we went to DL at Christmas we bought him a *stuffed Pooh bear*. We always bring back presents for our *kittykids* and I was not going to leave Orion out. We bought a bunch of the character plush keychains. They are small enough to be a stuffed toy for the cats and I clip the toy off the metal keychain part and give each cat a tiny plushie character. We got Lady, Marie, Mickey and Minnie, Pluto and Goofy this year. And I got Orion a Pooh Bear, because he loved teddy bears, just like his daddy! :)
