And more enjoyable, having the plane to yourselves...

True!!
Of course, trying to get everyone to take vacation at the same time was the killer to that idea!!

I love flying, but I'm with Zazu -- the airport experience sucks all the fun out of it.
Then again, I've always loved the words of an East Texas humorist: "I don't fly or swim. I don't like the idea of doing anything where if you stop, you die." :D:

I usually fly a few times a year, mostly for work. I don't really have any issue with airports, but more with the people who seem to do the same thing when they go to WDW or DL. They ignore something as simple as a sign! It says right there to have your ID handy, take off your shoes/jacket, pull the fluids out, blah blah blah. I've also noticed that the TSA agents have gotten better. The past few trips they have all been extremely friendly.

They must have gotten a raise.

I also tend to fly out early in the day or late, so either they haven't had a slew of morons to contend with or they are happy their day is almost over ;)
I think it also could do with one's perception. While one person see's someone as an asshole, someone else see's them differently. I'm sure it happens on this board all the time :D:

This would be a much more entertaining post if you'd name names. :D:

He won't be blabbering names, lol.
I fly early so I can get because when I left here at 6 am I had to hit two airports then get the rental car then get to the hotel at check in time at about 3 or 4 pm. Going home I fly later in the day so that I check out around noon or earlier, return to the airport then fly home which means I have half a day to shower, pack, sleep and on the last trip get me some gluten free bread.
I do not see how a certain hour will affect the service one gets. My am flight out of LAX meant me dragging luggage accross the terminal as the TAS was closed in my area. Begging for a wheelchair to take me to the plane and then spending one hour waiting for a wheelchair. I made it to the plane with about 45 minutes left despite leaving home over 3 hours before the flight. I have gotten good service at night and morning as well as shitty service at both times.

My favorite quotation about flying comes from the late, great Lewis Grizzard:
"Give a choice, I will never fly!
"Given no choice, I will never fly sober!"

The other option, of course, is to drive to New Orleans and take the train from there. Ten hour drive or so to the Big Easy.
Wasn't a no-fly zone tonight. :(
I can't say more, just that I am glad I wasn't a bus driver tonight.
Yeah, I heard it was a bad night from a bus drivers perspective (glad I wasn't there). Also heard about the signal 25 on the castle roof. Any truth to it?
