Hey guys, I've missed you...
Re: Hey guys, I've missed you...
lol pirate we got stuffed killer bunnies when we went to see Spamalot. but my favorite is my 'stress cow'.
I named her Moo-moo Latte...
my daughter likes to make Killer Bunny sneak up on people and go at their necks while she says "I need meat!" in a very Python-esque French accent.
The kid is a natural performer...
Last night heard that Dad was sleeping in the recliner, having eaten all afternoon and was happy as a clam. Going to go visit him as soon as I'm over whatever virus i picked up.
They are now talking about treating the throat tumor with the radiation oncologist even if they can't 'cure' him- at this point i think we all have the same goal- treatment that will allow my father to eat, and breathe without the trach for however long he has left.
Will let you know when i know more.
love and thanks again to all

Sounds like things are a lttle less stressful and harried. You can relax and get some much needed rest now.February wrote:lol pirate we got stuffed killer bunnies when we went to see Spamalot. but my favorite is my 'stress cow'.

I caught a flu bug last week as well. I was sick for a week. Don't know how I could have caught anything, cause I don't leave the house. Where are the flu bugs? You have to be exposed and I have not been as far as I know. Maybe they hitchhiked in on Ralph!

I am better now, but had a temp of 101, and lots of fluey ickiness. :(
Get some rest Bru! I am still praying for you and yours.

I was raised a Presbyterian(fatalistic view) and went to Sunday School and church like the good little Christian girl. My mom was raised Roman Catholic and my dad Baptist tho he went to church very rarely...Later in High School I started to question and went to a meeting with one of our ministers. I had some tough questions for him which he could not answer wity all his religious training, so he bascically fell back on the old saw "there are many parts of the bible we have not interpreted yet. That did it.
If each of these religious leaders are INTERPRETING the bible their way and each comes up with so many different stories as seems to have happened with the bible, I could not buy into it anymore. I went through a phase of questioning everything and then I put together what I felt in my heart was close to the truth, at least for me.
All religions are the same. We all have a all powerful being, each country or religion calls him/her by a different name, tho I truly believe it is the SAME all powerful being.

I certainly don't want to derail this thread, nor do I intend to start a long, extensive discussion of religion here. of course, if that gets it's own thread, I'll be happy to voice my opinion ... when I have a bit more time than I do now). However, I do want to take just a moment to mention two things:
1) The fact that someone does not fully understand something--in this case, the Bible--or can not explain it does not necessarily make it not true. Also, the fact that he (and maybe others as well) could not answer your questions doesn't mean the answers don't exist. He just didn't know them and did a very poor job of communicating that and getting the answers.
2) Many--maybe all--religions have some basic similarities. But there are also some inherent, significant contradictions. Significant enough that they can't all be right. For example, if my religion says there is one God, and another religion says there are hundreds of gods, these are inconsistent and can not both be true. It is logically untenable to say that they are.
OK, enough of that. I wasn't going to say anything at all, especially since this thread is for Bru, not for a study of comparative religion, but I really felt I needed to "voice" this.

Re: Hey guys, I've missed you...
I agree that this is not a comparative religions thread, and one is not going to be started here at SGT, as there are plenty out there if you want to find them. I admit, I kinda started that ball rolling, and we've played with that ball very nicely, without fighting or bickering. However, I am also going to preemptively take that ball away because I don't want a new face to come in and see that and think "Oh, this is a religiousified group" and start on that kind of rant. We've kept it thoughtful and respectful, so I am going to follow the stage magician's rule: If it's worth a minute and a half, give it 30 seconds. So, here's the stop to a conversation that we've kept nice but can turn ugly in a matter of minutes. I like it here, I like that we are all mature, non-SG adults that can carry on a conversation like that without screaming at each other. Time to make sure it stays that way.Belgarion42 wrote:I certainly don't want to derail this thread, nor do I intend to start a long, extensive discussion of religion here. of course, if that gets it's own thread, I'll be happy to voice my opinion ... when I have a bit more time than I do now). Let's see if I can find the proper smiley...Ah, here we go. You have to imagine that the smiley that it is happening to is the religion conversation:

Viva la difference!!!
In my own defense I have to add: Since the conversation was brought up I just posted my ideas like other's did, within the conversation. I did not nor will I ever disparage or ridicule other's beliefs and I would hope other's would not disparage mine. I would hope that we all can respect each other here. It would be a boring world if we all thought EXACTLY alike! Viva' la difference! Let's go start another thread, definitely!
Thank you Wallaby. This IS Bru's thread.
I hope all is well with Bru. She may have her hands full with her dad right now OR maybe she is resting, hopefully!
We will hear from her soon. I am praying for her and her family, see I don't have horns! heeheehee just kidding! ;)
