I still remember when we had a class meeting about our senior trip to the parks, we were warned not to shoplift by the assistant principal. He told us a story where on a trip a few years before that, a kid shoplifted in one of the parks and a camera was hidden in a clock. Since he was under 18, he wasn't sent to jail? (I don't remember exactly what happened because this was almost 10 years ago). I never noticed any cameras in the stores like in a regular store but I am sure they must have cameras hidden all over the place. I'm glad to know they are so strict about it because shoplifting makes us all have to pay more for items.

I assure you there are hidden cameras in the shops. I know where some are in my shops but I'm betting there are even more I don't know about. With how small cameras have gotten it is very easy to hide them most anywhere. We also have a number of plainclothes Security hosts that blend in with the guests and keep an eye on the shops.

AHHH... Warning students about shoplifting. I was part of a national Skills USA team that was in charge of the National Courtesy Corpse. We helped run the National Skills Championships in Kansas City each summer. Part of our opening speech was behavior including shoplifting. The FIRST DAY we took all 125 kids to a local water park and guess what? Yep, a kid from Maine was caught stealing and taken to the local lockup.
All we could do was inform the Maine delegation that one of their kids was on his way home. The good side to this was the rest of the kids believed everything we told them and we had a great week. I guess some people leave common sense at home no matter where they go.

Good. They deserve it. Of course, they're girls, so I bet they think they didn't do anything wrong. Or tried to blame someone else, cause girls won't ever say they're sorry for something they did wrong.

You are not the only one. Los Alamitos High School's Varsity Cheer leaders were arrested for shop lifting about 10 to 15 years back. The team moms and girls were canned finally and had at least $10,000 worth of stolen goods. The school was banned from nationals for 10 years, and the parents were fined for the stolen goods and the cheer leaders got a slap on their hands.
Oh crud, I just realized at dinner, my sister Mo and my Aunt said that they spotted cheer leaders at the Rain Forest Cafe at DTD. I wonder if we will see more this coming up this week?

I think the previous poster who mentioned that a lot of us are "just curious" about "all-things" Disney is correct. Is it possible that some wacky criminal or asshat terrorist is lurking around here? Yes, anything is possible. You just never know anymore...
Some of the 9-11 terrorists lived and worked right here in Punta Gorda, Florida.... sharing the same malls, food establishments, etc as the rest of us.... it is perhaps WISE that some aspects of Disney Policy, etc remain a "Mystery".... well at LEAST FROM THEM! :)

Out in Frontierland, I have been to the shops and see black half shells on the ceilings. I believe these are the camera's. But again I have seen cameras installed in trees in New Orleans. From what I have heard from security, the cameras were put there to watch cast members on vending carts. I don't know if these camera still work and have they caught any stupid cast member's pocketing the money?
