I guess I am what you would call a Polytheist.

I was raised a Presbyterian(fatalistic view) and went to Sunday School and church like the good little Christian girl. My mom was raised Roman Catholic and my dad Baptist tho he went to church very rarely...Later in High School I started to question and went to a meeting with one of our ministers. I had some tough questions for him which he could not answer wity all his religious training, so he bascically fell back on the old saw "there are many parts of the bible we have not interpreted yet. That did it.

If each of these religious leaders are INTERPRETING the bible their way and each comes up with so many different stories as seems to have happened with the bible, I could not buy into it anymore. I went through a phase of questioning everything and then I put together what I felt in my heart was close to the truth, at least for me.

All religions are the same. We all have a all powerful being, each country or religion calls him/her by a different name, tho I truly believe it is the SAME all powerful being.

I think when we die we go to a mass energy of souls, everyone in the same mass of energy, ball of energy, whatever you want to call it. When a baby is born, some of that mass of energy is put into that new life. Thus the energy is always recycling through human after human and that is why we sometimes have flashes of reincarnation and other lives that we might have had, because we have parts of energy from many people from that original mass of souls and energy.

It may sound far fetched, but it is the only thing that came up for me when I was searching and meditating to find answers. I belives in Buddhism, but am not a practising Buddhist, I believe in some of the tenets of Christianity, but have not been *saved* so to speak, not am I a practising Christian.

I was baptized as a baby, but never took it as far as to be born again later in life.

I pray. That is how I talk to my God and I have had many answers and miracles happen in my life. NOT to believe that God DOES exist.

I do believe that all religions have some great tenets and most are really the same. The big one is always there.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." means the same thing as the word *karma* and I do not know what the arabic word is for it, but I bet there is one!

It all comes down to that simple phrase for all of us to live on this planet and oh! What a joyous place it would be if every single living human could live that prase, hmmm?

You have a wonderful, special heart and a sense of the right in the world, Bru. Your dysfunctional family has to deal with their own *karma* and they will have to live with what they end up as. You have been a heartfilled daughter, full of nothing but love for your father and he knows it! (You would not be doing what you are doing, if you did not love him, even tho there is frustration, you get by that and still give out of your heart and love).

Perhaps you are stronger than the rest of your family and they *expect* that you are going to take care of everything. I don't know, but in the end, it will all equalize and you will be still be strong and love filled and at peace. They will be searching their own souls to find out where they even are.
With much love to you and a prayer for peace for you and your dad,

Susi

I'm a Frisbeetarian. Our only belief is when you die your soul floats up on to the roof and no one can get it down.

Not until he makes a Wiki page. Wiki wiki on that wiki, Hobie!

And so the next Pastafarianism is born, and right here in front of us. Let us now ask the Great Bird of the Forum for a Frisbeetarianism logo.

I heard a commercial a few days ago and learned that a new word existed... It's interesting, though... My computer's spell checker doesn't recognize the word antidisestablishment, or antidisestablismentarian, but it does know antidisestablishmentarianism is a word. Go figure. Make it an -ism and the spell checker is cool with that.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread. Bru, what updates?

[font="Palatino Linotype"]dear bru you're doing all you can do and you can't do more than that...don't let your sisters or mother brow beat you into anything...elyse and i have 3 older siblings (much older...12, 10 and 9 yrs...we all have the same parents), but our sisters were kind of in and out of our and our parents lives as they got to be adults...flash to the '90's and our mom getting into her 70's and our oldest sister stopped talking to all of us one at a time including our mom...our second oldest sister didn't keep in close contact and when our mom died i'm sure the guilt ate at her, but she took it out on me and elyse (mostly in the form of the "i want..." i want her drawings..i want her bedroom set...i want her wedding rings...you get the picture)...

it sounds like your sisters will feel very much the same way with your dad since they aren't willing to help out...and when his time comes you will have NO regrets knowing you will have done EVERYTHING you could do for him...(unfortunately, we couldn't get my mom's dr. to believe we thought she was having heart problems [she's just depressed] and she died about 8 hrs. after trying to take a treadmill test that they had no business giving her...turns out she'd been having angina pains for a few years, but no drs. ever diagnosed it for what it was...we know now what it was cuz i ended up having those same pains...the difference was that 5 yrs had passed and drs. were wiser...i was 42 then)...

just keep on doing what you're doing...take care of yourself first though...you owe that to your daughter...to grow up missing a parent is horrible...i can hardly remember my dad (he worked second shift 6 days a week from the time i was 7 and he died a month before we turned 14...he was 55)

hugs to everyone, this will be quick and sloppy because I am sick as a dog at the moment but I wanted you all to know that Dad should be home RIGHT NOW!

Something- either all our protests, or the ministers, or all of it combined with all of your good thoughts and prayers moved my mother somehow and she had a change of heart. She went to see him at the rehab place yesterday and today was scheduled to bring him home at 2:00.

I don't know how or why it happened, but I'm not looking that gift horse in the mouth.

My oldest sister happened to be at the rehab place (she finally went to see Dad) when we showed up Saturday, she saw my husband and I went back into the lobby and told him to tell her we'd go so she could stay- well apparently she bolted like a bat out of hell to get away from the potential risk of seeing me. funny thing was she almost walked right into me- because she stopped after signing out on the visitors list to check her hair in the mirror before going out the door.

I am not kidding.

Who she wanted to impress at the medical facility, I have no clue.

I happened to step into the next room, was waiting for my husband to come out so we could go, and I got a good look at her but she didn't see me.

I couldn't believe how fast she ran. *shaking head* I can assure you (and those of you who have seen me or in Shorty's case, met me know) that I am as intimidating as a pair of bunny slippers.

Whatever.

All I know is Mom went to the store and bought 200+ dollars worth of groceries to cook for him- and that I have to collapse now and try to get over whatever it is I caught, wherever I caught it before I can go visit Dad at home.

thanks again for all your well wishes and support- it has meant the world the past weeks and I know it will going ahead too.

love to all, back to bed for me.
Bru

Good.
I'm hoping that everything and everyone will settle down and that everyone will actually make every effort to work together and make things as good as they can be for him.
Get some rest and feel better, Bru. :)
