When I was teaching technical courses I found that using graphics made it much easier to get information across. It's stuck with me.

In the junior sailing classes I teach I use salt and pepper shakers and customer comment cards on little stands to show the kids where the course marks are and how to get around the course. All of the other instructors have adopted my methods. It seems to work as we've developed some really good little sailors.

I can do that too. Just before lunch in an engineering class, I was asked to bring in pizza. "Have you ever gotten a blister on the roof of your mouth from hot pizza?" I replied.
