They did it back in 2005, just before the 50th celebration began. It's unfortunate, as it's very unlikely that it'll ever be returned to California...Elena (aka: Bubble Lady) wrote: hey, when did they move walt's office to florida? they musta done it when we weren't looking

You can NEVER replace Disneyland with WDW or more specifically the MK :) Disneyland will always be my favorite park. WDW is great, don't get me wrong, but I grew up going to Disneyland. I took the photo of the firestation for a reason :)

I can't help feeling just a tiny bit smug] ...ah...um...hey, elyse...you're sounding like a complete stupid bitch...well...maybe not stupid... ;) ...but i have the feeling that people now have the idea of what dl means to you (and me)
(this is how we both look when we're just about to walk down main st.) :bouncemic :bouncemic
now let's not make any of the nice people here mad at us
I didn't mean to make anybody angry or hurt anyone's feelings.
You know that's not my style...
Perhaps it just because I'm so comfy at DL; knowing where everything is & being able to help other guests negotiate their way around the park.
(A secrect desire to be a CM? Nah...then I'd have to do what I was told to do instead of doing what I LOVE to do!)
And even you have to admit it; remember the tour guide the other day? The one who said we should take a tour sometime? You told her we could tour her around the park & show her where stuff used to be! Maybe we ought to hook up with her & her twin sister & make a day of it?
So, if I did hurt anyone's feelings, my deepest, most sincere apologies...

The Stolport was there at that time? I didn't know that. One of the (many) things I learned on the Steam Train Tour I learned that one time Walt was in hip waders with one of his friends (Broggie, maybe?) in the swamp that became the Magic Kingdom telling him where the castle, the train station, etc. would be. That right there shows how imaginative he was, being able to picture a swamp as the Magic Kingdom.Big Wallaby wrote:Actually, Walt even visited it once. Landed at Stolport, which is right next to World Drive, just on the other side of the monorail beam, right before Wilderness Lodge.
To go there, and know that somewhere on that tarmac I can stand in the footsteps of Walt, that creates a certain level of pixie dust for me.
Thanks to one of my location trainers, I have become a student of Walt Disney the man, reading everything I can. One of my favorite attractions now, after reading his biography, is the one at Studios where you can see his desk and office as it was moved from California to here. I just went one day and hung out in there, spent about two hours looking at the artifacts.
Oh, now I can't wait to get a picture with the Bubble Ladies in front of Walt's Desk!
I love the museum to Walt at Studios. I was sadly only able to spend a little while there this trip as nobody else wanted to go and it was getting close to when we planned to beat F! I need to read Walt's biography one day.
Turns out planning to get to F! at 8:30 on a night of only one showing is to late. When my family got there (I was still visiting Walt) they were already announcing that it was at standing room only (and most of my family was stupid enough to stop for ice cream at a stand). They must have been still getting ice cream when I came in a few minutes later (after dashing as quickly and safely as possible across the park) and met up with my bro and sis-in-law. Parade and Audience Control sent us down to the standing area on the far left side of the theatre. We were finally able to sit down in the handicapped seating at that end that PAC CMs were keeping clear just before the show started after my sis-in-law explained to them that she was working on getting a disability she has diagnosed (she really is, our day in MK she used a wheelchair most of the time she was so sore because of it). The rest of my family wound up somewhere way in the back and had to stand the whole time. Never saw them until we got out of the park. I was half surprised they were even allowed in, they must have been close to the last people allowed in before the gates were shut.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…

One Man's Dream. One of the most underappreciated exhibits at WDW. I can spend hours in there following Walts history. Most run through it and then ask "Is that all?" :twisted:Shorty82 wrote:I love the museum to Walt at Studios. I also gotta question it's placement at Studios. I suspose it's related and does give Studios an additional attraction but IMHO, a place on Main St would be my ideal location.
My god! What am I thinking. Take out retail and place Walt's tribute there.
After this thought, I'll be called in for the random piss test. Someone there will assume I'm on drugs.

I'd still like to do the real EPCOT, as Walt envisioned it.

walt's office WAS on main st. here...it was in the same exhibit as the original layout plans for dl...they also used to have plans for upcoming attractions there...
why is it that whenever something leaves disneyland here and goes to florida it never comes back? :abduct: hmmmmm...should we be afraid? ]

Re: The Bubble Ladys ROCK!!!!
With the expertise of WDI, why can't they make an AA of Walt, make a copy of his office, and put it somewhere in WDW? Most people (the SGs) would never know the difference. Heck, they might even be saying to each other, "Wow, I thought Walt was frozen?"
The thing is though, would Walt have wanted a tribute to himself on Main Street?
WDW could even make a hometown tribute to Walt. Take one of the empty sound stages at MGM, and make it into "Main Street" in his hometown, and (somehow) compare it to MSUSA (maybe use large photos of DL's MSUSA). IMO, that would show how Walt's vision from his hometown blossomed into DL.

With the technology they are using now, they need to get with Honda and transform the AISMO robot into a walking/talking Walt! He could wonder Main Street greeting guests. I'm trying to picture it, but I'm just getting Futurama type visions in my head...leftcoaster wrote:With the expertise of WDI, why can't they make an AA of Walt, make a copy of his office, and put it somewhere in WDW?

Good point, Sis...
First the Carousel of Progress...
Then Walt's office & all important desk...
Now they're talking about us coming out...
I don't know if our families would notice...
(I know mine probably wouldn't, since everytime I return home from DL I can't shut up about what a great time I've had, in detail, until the next time I go back...repeat for the next outting, etc, etc...My husband says this is how I make him feel when I come home & ask him to go just once with me

Overtly in love with CMs... :love2:
