Re: Best Stupid Guest Ever
I can't say how much glee I feel that this happen to a manager, I really can't. It's not that I have anything against them, but I'm glad that someone did to a manager what guest do to us and then proceed to lie and say that we were rude etc, etc.Driver_dylan wrote:This continues for a few minutes untill the guest is told that the CM in question, is a senior manager. :hysteria:And the guest turned white and left in a stupor.
Now here is my question, shouldn't that guest have had something happen to him. I mean he had just been caught trying to falsely Inpune the character of a CM.

Yes, I do think that something should have happen to that guest. I'm all up for guest service, but I do feel that when a guest is caught lying and cheating Disney should punish them. The accusations against us sometimes reached a level of insanity.
On a different note, could I have someone from the buses contact me off-board? I have a small question.

This is Disney we are talking about. 5 for $20 is more like it :D:Syndrome wrote:Personally, Add some revenue to it by selling overripe tomatoes ($5 for 10 would be good) that people can chuck at 'em. Maybe get to kick their rear end for an addtional $10.

Hate to tell you, Big Wallaby, but we do pronounce it "buses" (with a short "u" sound) up here in the Great White North. Boos(e) is the reason you are taking the buses instead of driving. :D:Big Wallaby wrote:Oh, to answer the question first posted in this thread, no. At least, not in booses.
And if anyone wonders why I am now saying booses instead of buses, I have decided that since I really like driving the Nova most of all, and since the Nova is made by Prevost in Canada, I should say boos instead of bus. Gotta pronounce it correctly, even in typing, eh? :D:
Of course, all bets are off in the Maritime provinces and the pronunciation gets really interesting in Newfoundland... I one had a tour of Lunenburg harbour (in Nova Scotia) on a fishing boat and the captains accent was so thick I could only make out about 30% of what he had to say.

Yeha, i also say Bus as in 'US with a Buh' .. My father is also from Newfoundland (Belle Island) and has a thick accent.. When Gruvgrl first met him, she didn't understand anything he said...EpcotFan wrote:

He would pronounce Bus as "machine" ... well. technically he calls everything a machine...
"Can you go down to the machine and get the machine that i need for that machine".... which means "Go down to the shed and get the wrench that i need for that work" of course.. other newfies instinctively know what they are referring to.

I was really hoping no Canadian friends would call me on that. Actually, I can always point out people from Toronto or Vancouver because their accent is so close to mine (which is considered not really having an accent).EpcotFan wrote:Hate to tell you, Big Wallaby, but we do pronounce it "buses" (with a short "u" sound) up here in the Great White North. Zazu can confirm or deny this, but I heard on some Discovery Channel show or something that the way we speak in the Pacific Northwest, Toronto and like places is actually what the English (British) accent was sometime around the 1400's. I would love if that was true, but I'll still sleep well tonight if not.
But I think the only real difference between a lot of Canadians and me is how we say words like "couch", etc.

Actually, since Prevost is based in Québec, it would actually be Autobus (with a short 'u') rather than Buses, Booses, or any other mot anglophone :p: .Big Wallaby wrote:Oh, to answer the question first posted in this thread, no. At least, not in booses.

Wallaby, I've read and heard repeatedly through the years that the Pacific Northwest "accent" is the closest to correct English, in that there is no particular regional accent as there is in most other parts of the country.Big Wallaby wrote:Zazu can confirm or deny this, but I heard on some Discovery Channel show or something that the way we speak in the Pacific Northwest, Toronto and like places is actually what the English (British) accent was sometime around the 1400's. Adding to what Canuikstan said about his dad...
I'll never forget the first time I met his mom and dad and we were having dinner. They asked me about me, and I asked them about them. Asked dad what he does for a living... I heard some mumbbling and then in the middle of a sentence plain as day I heard STRIPPER!!
It took all I had in me to not spit what-ever I was chewing on in the man's face from laughing. I composed myself and nodded and said something like... oh that's cool or interesting or something equally polite.
His mom then asked me if I understood anything he said... A sigh of relief followed by an "I'm sorry, no, not really" She explained that he strips rubber off big machine rollers.
I had a mental image of something COMPLETELEY DIFFERENT!! As you can imagine, and still to this day when I go over I re-live that moment and chukle and tease Papa. I'm glad they love me and haven't told me to get over it already!!! :p:
OH yeah 4 days left WooT!!! I'm super excited
