Rainy Day Issues

At our park we have to make sure that all guests are inside or the hell out of the park during extreme weather. Well, a few weeks ago we had a pretty horrible thunder storm. (Our park had a power outage!) So, i was sent along to make sure guests weren't standing under outdoor awnings or vending cart umbrellas. One encounter in particular had me rolling on the floor once it was over.

me: "please evacuate this area and move towards an indoor area for your safety, thank you"

guest: Come on man, thats bulls**t. Why do we gotta move?

*LARGE CLAP OF THUNDER AS SKY FILLS WITH LIGHTNING*

me: THATS why!


That guest ran like a bat out of hell!

My 1998 trip was damaged by people blocking exits, entrances and walkways just to stay dry. I had and ECV so I got soaking wet and WDW did not at the time carry large sized sweatshirts so I got dog sick and came home with a bad cold and sore throat.

You could throw dynamite at them and they would not move.

one problem i have encountered with rain is that queue line at stich's great escape. most of the queue is uncovered but there is an area out of view of guests walking by the queue where water POURS on top of guests. as i entered, i noticed that the part of the queue after this little skygap moved very quickly and the other half of the line moved superslowly.
this was because of all the people that insisted on putting their raincoats and ponchos on once they reached the last piece of dry land before the gap.
then they would get to the other side, stand there, remove all the rain gear and clog up the line even more!

Festival, Safari, Wildlife Express, Conservation Station and a lot of unhappy guests.

Luckily though, Bug, Dinosaur, Triceratop, Primieval, Kali and Everest all went 102 shortly before the start of EMH

I'm sorry if it's taboo to bring up old posts, but I'm curious. Who rides Kilimanjaro in the rain? The real question, though, is why are Maharajah and Pangani closed with inclement weather? Isn't it the same as guests walking on the park paths in the rain anyway? And at least Pangani has some covering at many points.

It rained during my last trip to WDW. You have the choice of hoping the rain lets up or sitting in your hotel crying because of the rain. I used to go to DLR in the rain as it has few crowds. Florida rain was not that bad when I was last there and I was out and about in a scooter having fun while the crowds were huddling trying to stay dry.

I ride Kilimanjaro in the rain. Due to work, children's school schedule, etc., we have to go to DisneyWorld in the summer. When it's hot and starts the daily 3:00pm rain most of the animals come out to cool off. I always see far more animals during a rain storm.

I couple of weeks ago I was at the Typhoon gate and a family came to me asking where they could get their money back. It was a beautiful day and they said they had been in the park less than a half hour and couldn't stand the bugs all over the place, and couldn't we control them.

I just sent the family over to Guest Services and then went on break a few minutes later so I never found ut what had happened. Don't these people realize that it is a natural envrionment?

Ansem will back me up on this. Listen, none of you have the right to complain. At GMR, it is all ways raining inside, 24/7 but we still have to run the ride either way. So I don't want to hear it.
