Zazu-yes, go for the trains.

Sunscreen-Neutrogena 110. Or try BULLFROG 50. Since I had basil cell skin cancer 5 years ago, I have been cancer free and the goal is to wear strong sun screen when you can. :)

We don't. They sound interesting. After looking at some pictures the closest size wise is the Banyan tree.

GaTechGal - tried the Neutragena (sp?) 70 - I didn't like the feeling....it was weird to say the least. And I honestly don't think it "slathered" on well enough. Darksin - we use the same sunblock!! lol I use the Coppertone Sport 50. I love it and I find I don't need to reapply nearly as much as other sunscreens. DonutGoddess - can't use the spray cans (especially now with my hand surgery). For some reason, it just won't spray right for me. :o: Besides, the FDA has said that old-fashioned sunblock works better than that of a spray can.

Hobie - aloe is the best!!! I get the medicated kind (either blue or green dyed and smelling horrible) and it works wonders. Inevitably, I get sunburned at least once a summer (usually cause my husband forgets a part (my neck last July in DC) or I think "I'm not going to be outside that long" and oops....fried.

You should grow your own aloe plant. You break off a piece and rub it on the burn. All the fire departments have them growing next to their buildings.

I didn't realize you worked at the Contemporary, Zazu. We were just there during the second week of May. Well, we were actually staying at BLT, but (obviously) were in the Contemporary for check in, check out, and bell service. Wonder if we ran into you...

um....that would be a big, fat NO, good buddy. LOL I have a Black Thumb. I have, literally, killed an aloe plant before. It was my grandmother's and I still get upset any time I think of it. I am not allowed near any living plants....they wilt in my wake.

But it was a good thought!

I was building a killer sound system for an addition to the house. One item I added was an environmental equalizer thinking it would tune the system so it would sound better.

The first time I turned the system on all the plants in the room died.

That is a gorgeous Aloe Plant! I have had some good luck with them in my back yard, they have propagated enough where I gave some to all of my neighbors :)
I am usually terrible with plants,so all I can think is that if your aloe didn't grow, there must have been an environmental reason (wrong soil, not enough rain).
Try Again ;)

When I was a kid growing up in Miami, our neighbor had an aloe plant growing as a shub next to their house. We didn't know what it was called at the time, but whenever one of us would skin a knee, we'd run over, break off a piece and rub it on there. worked great. My DH swears by the stuff and has always called it "Magic Cactus Juice" to intice the kids to use it.
