Honda... dude... last I checked, number of vistis to the park is not what differentiates an SG from a non SG. Your FACTS are clearly wrong, and that's what's making you sound like an SG right now. That, and while I know a few of the CMs here have had a bit of an attitude about the Guests as of late, which may be making you sensitive to criticisms from them, but Zazu has been nothing but polite to the Guests on this board, so lay the hell off him. Zazu is good people.

I've only been to WDW once in my adulthood, and even I know you can sure as hell see a great deal more than a dot if you are inside the park. From a viewing spot in the hub you can see the performer and all her light up costume quite clearly, and I for one appreciate the fact that she goes up there and does that night after night for that extra little bit of realism, because you sure as hell would never get me up that high. Kudos to her.

Honda Enoch wrote: The CURRENT station, maybe not. But had it been set up that way from day 1 then I am sure the train station would have been built to accommodate the wire and landing. And I am sure there would be no problem running a wire from the castle to the station. It's not THAT far away.
If they set it up from day 1, the castle would need to be higher than 189', to make the launch platform taller. That would require a red warning beacon for aircraft on top of it. Note that the ToT and EE are both under 200' for this reason. Main Street Station would need to be much lower than it is now if Tink was to land on the roof, note the "Elevation 108'" is for the platform, not the top of the roof of the station. The drop is not significant enough for her to gain enough momentum to make it from the castle to the train station. If you actually read the other responses on this thread, you would read that she sometimes does not make it with the setup now.

So, either you don't get it, or you want to argue just to argue. Either way, I had a good laugh.

There is also the need for support equipment to hold up the cable and keep tension on it. Behind the landing platform there is a tower and the cable is attached to weights so as to accommodate cable stretch and maintain tension on the cable. There is no way, even if it was completely redesigned, for the station to accommodate the necessary support structures of the landing platform and cable tower.

As already been mentioned, the cable can't go down Main Street as there are to many obstacles. There are parades, the flag pole, the Christmas Tree, other Christmas decorations and what not the cable would interfere with. There's also the fact extremely tall pieces of equipment are used on Main Street periodically. There are high-lift booms used for maintenance work, camera and lighting booms and towers used for parade and commercial taping, etc. Where the cable goes now is far enough away from the areas this equipment gets used to not be in the way.

There's also the fact the landing area has to be completely out of sight of guests and as everywhere around the station are guest areas this wouldn't be possible.

Honda Enoch wrote:EXCUSE YOU!!!!!!! I have been to WDW over 200 times. I have family that retired from there. I have seen the fireworks show and tink fly more times then I care to imagine counting. I have seen it from many locations, including directly in front of the castle on the compass. So don't you DARE assume that I am some SG that does not know what he is talking about.
Lighten up, he was making a joke that (at minimum) Mainstreet and I found funny.
I'd make sure my backpack is always closed from now on, or... Well, most of you guys know the rest of the story.

You shouldn't use such horrible vulgarities here. It might cause people to leave!
