A few years ago I went to see a show in New York and some idiot started to take flash pictures in the show. Thankfully the usher threw that person out of the theatre. I mean if the producers wanted to take photos for an ad for the show they do it durring a dress rehersal with the house lights on and tell the preformers what they are doing. There are very few stage photos of a show where a preformer is looking directly at the camera.
On the note of people not moving down. These people bitch that they cannot see the show. They said it when I worked at Alien Encounter which is round.

Sure enough, some couple always stops right in the middle of the row. It happens all the time to me. I try not to let it bother me, but its so annoying. I figure that most times, its probably a foreigner and they may not speak english. Of course, that is just my guess. Its hard to imagine that people can just be that rude.
And, when that happens to me, I just hate it when I accidently 'stomp' on their foot when I am trying to climb over them to get around them.

One time when the refused to turn it off we let everybody in the chamber, except for them see the show again under show lighting. But we made the guest with the camera and his party leave. This was also we did frequently on Space Mtn as well because the light ruins the ride for everybody.
UGH, Why do people do that? Why do they have to do things that ruin the fun of everyone else? Fortunatly, i've never run into anyone like this and I personally never do that.

Camera lights do ruin attractions for others. I know one attraction I worked at, if someone was using a bright camera light, we could disable their RV and return it to it's home position. They'd then be told why their RV stopped mid-ride and they'd be allowed to ride again, but they couldn't use the camera. If they did it again, they were kicked off the ride.

Hey Val,
I too am a veteran of the Great Movie Ride, and I have had COUNTLESS shows with guests I've come to call "strobe lights", who take a million flash pictures (little do they know that the pics turn out better if you leave your flash off anyway). Anyway, I'm not 100% sure if this is true or not, but I'm sure someone must have told you when you're trained...that when GMR first opened those stairs were in fact vertical (not all bent at right angles like they are now) and a tour guide got seriously injured by falling down them.
I'm none too shy about hitting that nice, big fat red "E STOP" button and handpacking if a guest, much like the ones you've described, will not stop after several requests. Flash pictures are hazardous to the saftey of the cast...yadda yadda. It's true. Plus, it's just rude and highly irritating to the other guests, not to mention distracting as a vehicle operator.
I had one lady once tell me that she couldn't turn off her flash, as if that would somehow make it ok or less of a saftey hazard even if it was true.
Admittedly, though, sometimes if they've been good the ENTIRE ride and laughed at the corny jokes I don't mind if they take flash pictures of the final scene in OZ, of the four characters, as we're heading into the finale...by then it's pointless to stop them anyway.
...I cannot WAIT to go back...sigh

There are certain rides I have given up trying to take photos while riding. There is no way to get good pics without the flash on these and I will not use flash. I think some of these people don't know their camera well enough to know how to turn the flash off.

The good lord invented the instruction manual for a reason. The Great Movie Ride, Splash Mountain, the Haunted Mansion etc is no place to figure it out. I complain every single time as a guest when I have to sit through an entire ride near someone who feels the need to take pictures of everything like some kind of paparrazzi cretin, instead of just sitting there and EXPERIENCING the ride.
Example: I have gone on pirates of the carribean roughly 10,000 times (hyperbole - the real number is probably in the thousands somewhere). I love it and I can't get enough of it. Not once have I felt the need to take pictures, because to me having a picture of a scene in a disney ride is like taking a picture of a radio playing your favorite song. It's never going to evoke the same emotions or feelings. I've never understood people who feel this urgent need to record every ride, because it places a degree of separation between you and the ride and prevents you from truly experiencing it.
Case in point: Thanks to the marvel of the internet, everyone who wants to can find a video of Horizons and watch it. I, however, and countless fans like me, were there. I remember how it felt to ride horizons, that thrill of taking a glimpse of the future, imagining that I could really live under the ocean like that someday, or in outer space. I remember what it smelt like and how the seats felt. I have these memories and will have them forever, and to me that's infinitely more valuable than some grainy, poorly-shot mpeg. I'd like to see a camera do that (alduous huxley notwithstanding).

Oh, I absolutely hate flashes. I've been to DL as a guest many times and people simply refused to turn their flashes off, simply ignoring me when I ask them.
One witch-with-a-capital-B started yelling at me during the Candlelight Vigil (when it was in the Fantasyland Theater) about how "the flash stays ON" because her daughter was in the show. One, that doesn't give you the right to pi$$ off everyone around you, and two, using a flash rated for twelve feet when you're about seventy feet from the stage doesn't do you a damned bit of good.

Wait. We're talking SGT's here. You expect them to read a manual? ;) Or even know how to read? ;)

I hate working SGE chambers. The dumbest thing a guest told me as to why they didn't fill in all the seats (they left two seats open in the middle of the front row when I had about 20 more people looking for empty seats) was that the seats were wet. :dropmouth I simply told them that they were going to get wet nontheless anyway and they finally moved down. Then you have the idiots who just have to try 5 times to make thier scanners stay down before they lower automatically. If it didn't stay down the first time, what makes you think it will the 2nd - 5th time??
