Remember waiting for the picture tube to warm up? I always hugged the TV to make it warm up faster! :D:

I had forgot about that!! or when you turn it off, and have that point of light for a minute or so in the middle of the screen.

Here's four words that may strike terror into your heart:
"adjusting the vertical hold." :)

Ok, we only had ONE tv, and sometimes it had to go into the SHOP, so no tv for a week!
From Back to the Future:
"Do you have a television set, Marty?"
"Yeah, you know we do, we have two of them!"
"Two television sets!"
"He's just teasing you Lorraine! Nobody has two television sets!

My dad never did that. He used to call for my oldest sister and make her do it.
My MIL did the same thing to my husband, I found out!
By the time I was born, we had a tv with a 'clunker' remote. Then when I was about 5 we got our first fancy one with real number buttons on it.
One time I dropped it, because I was trying to run with it- I wanted to watch Winnie the Pooh which was on tv as a special (only like once a year back then and no VCRs) and my dad wanted to watch football.
The battery door came off when it hit the floor, the batteries fell out and I was honestly certain from the look on his face that my father was going to kill me.
If looks could vaporize a small child, I'd have been a poof of smoke. I still get queasy thinking about it.
LONG LIVE DVR!!! We can record 3 things at the same time while watching one. This means that this baseball season, I will actually get to watch television (occasionally) we're one of those families that only has one tv still. I don't like dividing everybody up into their own little rooms. . .

My mother used to degausse constantly.
And the words we hated were "Sorry, Ma'am but your green gun is going."
We went on an island vacation to PR when I was seven- three weeks with no tv, I didn't think i'd make it LOL I was never quite as attached to the thing after we got home. Never have been since.
I'd much rather be reading or writing something myself. It takes a lot to keep me interested in tv and I only have two or three shows I really follow (that air currently)

"The president's on! He's on every channel! We're going to miss
Flipper!"
-from Jeff Foxworthy, I believe.

OR from one of my favorite shows: "WE control the horizontal, WE control the vertical!!!"

"The president's on! He's on every channel! We're going to miss something important!" I say that today.

Oh, yeah, black and white T.V. , commercials that didn't insult your intelligence, kid shows that were fun, and the family gathered to watch the T.V. together. Funny, on another site we were reminiscing about kid shows we used to watch.
