So didja get to spend some time together later, since you didn't even get to "chat" on the safari truck?

Hey BW, did you ever run into Jerry, the driver I mentioned did a really good job on our 3-week safari? I'm just wondering if he still has a potato on his dash board, and where did he get it and what in the world is it there for??

Ah, Jerry. Actually, a group of us went to Fantasmic! together last night, and he was there.

The other morning, I got to pick out the first family, the family that rides the Safari before anyone else, in their own truck. I take them to the load platform and put them on the truck, and then give them the tour. Who the driver will be is usually a toss up and usually doesn't matter. Well, this time it did. Jerry pulled up, and we worked together to give them the best safari I've ever been a part of. We both had microphones plugged in, we were both on the PA system, took turns pointing stuff out and giving facts. It was a complete blast to work with him. Actually, I am probably going to shoot some portraits of him and his girlfriend together in the near future (but not before the Bubble Ladies tour). I told him about your ride on his safari and your thoughts. Next time you're here, if you want to do dinner I'd love to invite him along. Actually, I want to ride his safari where it's just him giving the tour. I can see how it would be extremely good. I like the way he words things and the energy he has on the truck... and that was in a position where he didn't have to talk (but then, I can't imagine him not performing).

I don't know about the potato, except that we have those floating around. They are part of an old storyline that we don't use anymore (I don't know the storyline), but it sounds like it would be fun to know.

I want to start putting a little Figment on my dash, but I doubt that would fly. Maybe they would allow a little blue hornbill instead...

Print out this picture:

And ask your riders to let you know if they see this beast. It's dangerous and keeps flying away before it can be caught. :D:

Or just pin it up in the cab and wait for someone to ask about.

Cool picture, Randy, but where are the spears?

BW, glad to hear Jerry is still around. I'm trying to figure out how to get down there before our big family trip in November. But if we can't make it until then, my sister and her family would love to meet you and the other CMs. I've told them all about you guys and how much fun you are. :)

You mean the poison Quills? This is a still photo snapped just before I had to duck and hide from the incoming quills. I'll risk a lot for photography, but I draw the line at standing still infront of incoming poison quills. :D:

That bongo looks like it's missing its feet/hooves. Could make it painful to land for grazing with no feet! :D:

It lost its feet to carnivorous grass that is planted along the AK backstage access paths to keep SGs from wandering backstage. The silly Bongo thought it looked tasty and landed right in the middle of the patch. That's why it is so grumpy and will throw its poison quills at anything that moves. You'd be cranky too if you lost your feet to a lawn.

(I'm good at coming up with a backstory for most anything.) :D:

Interesting, the story I heard was that the Flying Bongo's Hooves had atrophied due to it's developed ability to fly, and rather than wander around the savana grazing, it does short flight "hops" to the next good patch! and over the years has no longer needed the hooves to paw the ground for covered grasses, but can simply fly to the next patch.

well, thats what I heard!!

Of course there is the remote possibility that I was unable to find any Bongo images that didn't have them standing in tall grass. Naw! that couldn't be.
