Doncha worry. Ya didn't.
Freak wrote:I think the lack of A/C on DL's line might be a voltage/amperage issue... I think if I recall correctly, our monorail beams are very small compared to other monorail beams.
They are more narrow, and the reason for not having A/C from what I understand is a weight issue. The voltage is the same on both coasts, which I understand to be fairly normal for attractions.
Freak wrote:Yeah, our teeny tiny beams have a 600 Volt DC, unsure of the amperage though..But I've been told A/C would push it over maximum capacity of both volts and amps.
On that 600 VAC, we run two air conditioning units per car, each capable of air conditioning a 2,000 square foot house. Amperage ain't the issue.

Main Streeter and ktulu, I am so glad you guys had a great time upstairs. Of course you did take the lift both ways, right? I did only because it was a chance to ride that lift again.

You class clown? Class, yes, clown, never! Now big E...

DING DING DING! You were slumming it with me. The sweet Impala with the gum on the drivers door. We saw a car today on the way to lunch with gum all over the side. Must be some crazy California thing ;)

I'll buy you a case of coke, or maybe we can find a Coke Freestyle machine that you can try and drag out of the place ;)

Ah, heard that before too. Seems make more sense too, now that I know that voltage is the same on both coasts. (Didn't know that before. Anything about WDW is a learning experience for me!)

To fix the problem with A/C in California: have a window unit sticking out of a window, and cover the top of the monorail with solar cells. Boom. Done deal.

Of course! Hope they will be there as Ernie will want to meet them in Aug. Maybe he will have learned how to pronounce "Ceviche" by then. ;) Flag Retreat may also be seen on fb. http://www.facebook.com/disneylandflagretreat. I probably didn't paste correctly but a search will bring it up for all interested.

Both systems have the same amperage/voltage. Still doesn't mean they have the same capacity. The WDW system has rectifiers all over the system, not sure about DL. The DL system was engineered to run 4 trains and 2 a/c units in each. The WDW system was engineered to run 12 trains, and 14 a/c units in each train. Voltage and amperage may be the same, but the WDW system's power grid obviously has a much higher wattage capacity. As to weight, one A/C unit would probably only weigh as much as a person and a half.

Don't mind me, just playing the  's advocate!
