Kanji is not a phonetic alphabet tho. If you wanted to write Spanish, or any other language usually written in Roman characters, with Japaneese characters you would use katakana.

Nada. Nunca. No. I find Spanish easier to follow at times. Much shorter. Spanish is not my first language.

My older brother married a japanese lady and have a son. I learned Oshi (sp). I understod it was tastey.

My nephew speaks Japanese, Russian, German and English. He took Spanish for a year in jr high. They are visiting here from Phoenix, AZ.

Yesterday I was told that certain names for chinese restaurants had different meanings in Japanese. One got my attention. It was translated to arm pit shushi.

I will have to get all the info from them and share it with you.

OK, SG comments: I went into DCA on Tuesday. I went to Muppet Vision and there was this SG father saying if we keep the glasses, the effects in Hyperion Theater will be more intense. Yeah right! I had no idea that show was made into a 3-D musical with live performers.

you don't need to know.

just take a statement meant to be a joke, as a joke,

it was an amusing play on the juxtiposition of using one language to be written by another that is really not designed to be a translatable medium or bidge between the two.

further statements about the aspects of a language and clairification about the structure and nature of usage are not necessary.

...its like trying to explain a joke to someone with no sense of humor.

I'm sorry I didn't get your joke, but that's really no reason to get hostile with me, or insult my intelligence.

Everyone smile and walk away... no need to escalate... :D:

[not-so-subtle-subject-change] So, how about those Brazilians, huh? [/not-so-subtle-subject-change]

you are reading WAY too much into it.

just explaining it for you, as you seem to not understand that others may have just as much, if not more, knowledge and experience in some subjects.

I never get tired of guests telling each other how you soar all over America on "Soarin' over California" here at DCA.

It might even be funnier for WDW, since its the same ride, but in the wrong state. :p:
