When we bring goodies up to our office in QSR, we leave it up stairs.

ODV does the same thing, leave the food in the break area.

We leave the labels on the water bottles for the 20 oz bottles that sell. If the labels do fall off before we sell them, we spoil them or send back to coke for relabeling.

MK -when I went for a back stage tour with a group tour with other CMS, the labels on the dasini bottles were on.

QRS lets us leave the labels on. Health department has told us that we have to take the water bottles and put them into a secure area so the guests don't see us drinking from them. I keep mine in the supply area next to the turkey warmer. Try 20.

Last summer, costodial leads were telling us to bring a Propel. I lived off of it because it had antioxidants in which the normal Dasani had salt.

One year the paramedics came out on a hot day explaining why to drink water and sports drinks. Drink a soft drink and it will make you more thirsty. Drink bottle water and sport drinks such as Powerade, you will survive. My sister is a nurse and sees this all the time in the emergency room. People decided they can ice cold sodas all day at home near the pool. She said that is the number #1 way to end up in the hospital.

When my sister cellebrated her birthday down at the Disneyland Hotel, I baked her some fresh cookies. She took that down to the lost bar and tried giving some to the CMS. I told her no, they are not allowed to eat cookies that guests make. It is against there policy to take food or beverage from a guest. The CM could get fired. CMS are told to say: "No thank-you."

If it's a hot day and you're sweating, you need sodium.

Mapo,

I'm sorry if I offended you by referring CMs as having a service industry job, but on behalf of myself and others who have or currently work in the service industry outside of Disney Parks, I find it unfortunate that you consider the term 'service industry' an insult, and assume it's means anyone is belittling you or looking down on you. It is nothing of the sort.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that I don't respect you. I certainly never meant to say that in any way.

It just seemed like your anger was directed not solely at the picture or goodie bag but at some insult implied in the act of being commended, which was the source of my confusion.

I'm glad that I finally got a chance to take a look at this thread, because I've got a cool story that I heard about yesterday;

Yesterday I was at California Adventure in the Paradise Pier area. I was watching people play the "Games of the Boardwalk" (midway games starring some of the Disney and Pixar characters) more info here; http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyl ... actionPage
At the "Bullseye Stallion Stampede" the more players, the bigger the prize. The smallest prize is a little pillow with either Woody or Jessie on it.

I noticed that Jessie was at the "Casey at the Bat" game cheering people on and actually even playing the game herself. Jessie was holding a Jessie pillow, and when one CM questioned her about it, a boardwalk game CM said that a guest have given it to her, and Jessie clearly seemed grateful.

I thought that was pretty cool. I'm assuming that the guest had been a child.

As for guests wanting to give CM's goody bags, that seems a little eccentric to me, especially considering all of the nuts in the world today, you just can't be too sure.

I agree with MAPO, guests should just give CM's respect.

Yes, that's MK and that's your department. I have never said anything about labels left on for any other department (although I'm pretty sure it's company policy, not attractions policy) The fact still remains, that Attractions CMs at Disneyland do not have their labels on their water bottles, they must come off.

Yup, same policy at WDW. Only unmarked, clear plastic bottles are permitted on stage.

We had an incident I heard of from the Union where a CM was reprimanded for carrying a Dasani bottle with the label removed. Management figured that he had to have stolen it as he had no receipt from an on-stage location, and that size was not sold backstage. The CM got off only when his shop steward asked the Company for proof that he hadn't brought the bottle from home.

So yeah, those of us in attractions use the plain plastic bottles the Company issues and refills them from cold drinking fountains... if we're smart.

please do be careful accepting seemingly innocent items from strangers! ITA a note complimenting a CM is worth so much more than a bag of crap! The bag of crap must be more rewarding to the giver than the receiver!

as for the "salt" in Dasani - I was at the Jan 2010 marathon - and I can tell you we were told we were using dasani, and good thing the salt would keep it from freezing... LOL Clearly Floridians havent experienced the cold that was that day -

we poured 1/3 cup of water in cups, then carried those cups to the runners - the darned water FROZE before a runner could grab it! I've NEVER seen anything like it - but I'm only from Chicago, what would I know of cold?
