The folded flag is handed to the veteran and they have a procession down Main Street to half way down Center Street where they stop and a Photopass photographer takes photos of the Veteran with the Color Guard, his family, etc. After that the flag is handed back to Security and is taken backstage at that point.
Why does Entertainment not want the flag handed to the Veteran? It's not like he's going to steal it or something! I can't think of a better person to handle the flag than a veteran, someone who fought for everything that flag represents!
Excellent Point-If WDW does this, Why not can't DLR continue?

Keep up the Fight, people!

After getting into the America Gardens theatre (and away from the aforementioned troublemakers), I found myself seated in front of a row of senior citizens who talked and/or sang throughout the entire Candlelight Processional. They openly mocked Isabella Rossellini's pronunciation (I'd love to hear your Swedish or Italian, you ugly Americans). Ugh. I thought she did a lovely job.
Some people just have no class no matter where they are. Shame on those people.

Different managers. WDW does Flag Retreat @ MK as they do because DLR manager is there now. This WDW manager built Flag Retreat around Ernie. They worked together very well. Wish she hadn't gone to WDW. I don't even know her name, yet I'm sure she'd have no ability or say @ DLR now. Ernie is trying to remember her name. Guess it has been a long time.

Maybe no official say but there's a possibility she knows the right people to talk to at DL.
Looking back over the thread I saw where you mentioned there was no announcement about the ceremony, MS. There should always be an announcement about the Flag Retreat Ceremony, at least in Town Square if not on all of Main Street, USA. Everyday in the MK there is an announcement in Town Square at 4:55pm about the ceremony. The announcement tells guests what is about to happen and will hopefully bring a few guests down to Town Square to watch who might not have otherwise.

I e-mailed DL guest services with my support for Ernie and Flag Retreat. I am considering e-mailing some of the talent at Fox News. I don't have any video, but I may have some photos that I took over the summer.

Whoever wrote "no biggie" should be deported. The U.S.A. may not be pefect, but it's the best country, as far as freedom is concerned.

No biggy?! NO BIGGY?! How is this a "No biggy"? Whoever said that must not have a patriotic bone in their body. The Flag Retreat ceremony is about a lot more than just lowering the American Flag for the day. It is about honoring the men and women who fight or have fought for our freedoms.
Freedom doesn't come free and it is only right to honor our veterans as they are the ones who paid for our freedoms, sometimes with their very lives. Well, we might not like what the guy said but our veterans fought for the right for him to say it. What he said might be annoying to us but he does have the right to say it.
